Sometimes you might stumble across people who say that our fandom is dead, and I came here to prove that statement WRONG.
→ The Death Cure movie was released in 2018, which naturally resulted in an increased number of fics. From 01.01.2018 to 31.12.2018, there were 678 works posted under The Maze Runner Series tag.
→ That number dropped in 2019, when the hype wore off, resulting in 262 works.
But! Since 2019, the number of fics has actually been going up!
→ The 600-works milestone was reached for the second time since 2018 in 2022, and in 2023 the number of fics was 856 (!!!), which is 178 more fics than in 2018!
→ And finally, in 2025, with 1,222 works in total, The Maze Runner Series tag reached the one-thousand-fics milestone for the second time ever—and for the first time since 2018!!!!
→ 2025 has the most fics out of all the years, dethroning 2015 (The Scorch Trials movie release year) and its 1,201 fics.
→ 2025 has more fics than 2021, 2020, and 2019 combined.
→ 2025, compared to 2018, doubled the amount of fics.
