Welcome! ◝(ᵔᵕᵔ)◜

I'm Pi (they/them) and I'm glad you're here! Have a rummage. Open the cupboards. Judge the silverware. Marvel at the tiny hotel soaps. Pocket some of the tiny hotel soaps.

First things first: I’m an adult blogging with other adults in mind. Terfs, SWerfs, bigots not welcome. I don’t use AI, and have no desire to interact with GenAI works.

This is largely a Veilguard blog - I’ve been a DA fan since DA:O and I’ve been fandom active since this post. I mainly write nonbinary Crow Rook because my OC is dancing a jingle in my head and refuses all attempts at exorcism.

I'm a Multi-shipper. Nevecanis applauder. Spites Union Rep. Teiago enthusiast. Enjoyer of all things queer. Currently hyper-fixated on Spookaneve, DreadRook and Hooke (Hawke/Rook), but will Oneshot any combo if inspiration hits because I love them all.

I'll be tagging my original posts as #🎶🌒 and my non-fandom posts with #peike rn

what car does your OC drive

i posted this by mistttaaaaaake earlier sowwie

I have been tagged many times to ask what tofana would drive (thank you!!!!)

The answer is very simple: a hot pink monster truck a la Debra Miceli's Madusa.

Nobody hoots at them. nobody cuts them off. nobody takes their parking spot. nobody road rages in their direction. everyone is in their correct place. crushable. meek.

Their garage also boasts a hot-pink peugeot 205 cabriolet. it is their baby. (yes everyone who hoots at them finds themself having inexplicably earned the ire of a giant fuck off monster truck a few days later)

But the car they like driving most of all is YOUR car. You show up to pick them up and THEY are somehow the one driving. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! They're very matter of fact and perfunctory about it too, but they do return the seat and the steering wheel to how they were before.

(Yes. This is your chips all over again only this time, why do YOU feel like YOU’RE the one giving them pookie eyes for the chance to drive your own vehicle???)

!! DESPERATE TIMES: PLEASE READ AND CONSIDER !!

hello friends i am bringing this back, very grudgingly because i have exhausted all my other options. this should be the last time i'm e-begging this badly and severely. once nan's medicare gets fixed by the end of the month they will reimburse us for all the money i spent on her medication AND IT'S A LOT and that will set us good until taxes, which will clear us out of remaining bills and everything will be GOOD again.

so like. we're down on rent, and her meds are 90 a week. anything helps, honest to god anything does.

BUT I AM ALSO OFFERING EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS

just i need to make an aside, all commissions are on a bit of a pause because this very old thinkpad hates??? my usb ports these days. i can still draw, it's just harder because i have to hold the usb part in?? so it's annoying but with tax return money i'm buying a refurbished laptop and we'll be back in full swing, the cold weather won't be so cold so my arthritis wont be a concern and just. if you DON'T MIND waiting a few months for your art then please consider:

5 Random Facts About Your OC

Thanks for Tagging @master-of-the-elements I'd like to see a full chapter based on that first one ;)

Rules: post 5 random facts about your OC. It can be fun or tragic, spicy or not, short or long, with or without explanation, fascinating or mundane, your choice.
  1. When Kalen was 5, his village was attacked by Darkspawn and his parents were blighted. They turned and he survived by hiding in his bedroom. Grey Wardens would later come and save him and while other Wardens cleared and dealt with his blighted parents. A young mage kept him outside so he didn't see anything. She distracted him with a piece of chocolate and made him feel safe. This is why chocolate always brings him comfort and is his favourite treat.
  2. He was then taken to a Chantry Orphanage where he would live for about 4 years. His magic would surface in response to being bullied when he changed his name, using an ice spell to freeze the boy who teased him and killing him, accidentally. When the Chantry sisters saw what happened he was knocked out and he woke up in the circle he'd live in until he was 16.
  3. Was taken in at Weisshaupt at 16 and would act as Elissa's Cousland's ward, until she left shortly after his 20th birthday. They would travel all over Thedas together along with Carver Hawke who'd become almost like a big brother to him. He'd make the Warden-Ensign rank under their guidance.
  4. After Elissa and Carver left to find the cure for the Calling, he'd be sent on a mission of which he'd be the only survivor. Jowan Glastrum would blame the loss of the other two Warden's on him and demote him back to an Acolyte. Glastrum would continue to find reason to hold him back.
  5. From 13-16 he'd fall in love and have a very inappropriate relationship with a templar at the Circle. Who in the end, would break his trust and his heart, causing him to stay away from relationships until he met Davrin ten years later.

I needed something to get the creative juices flowing this was fun.

and anyone else who wants to tag me :).

One under-appreciated breed of fic writer are the ones who hyperfocus on logistics to the exclusion of all canon shortcuts, and thus usually strike upon an awesome way to flesh out the worldbuilding or characters.

Like, I’m not necessarily talking realism here since often it’s still pretty far from realistic, but more like, “someone has to be running spies in this fantasy kingdom, and we’ve seen the whole royal court, so which background character is it? How does that change these three major interactions?” Or “real life historical nobility did in fact have some things to do that were like jobs, how does this human disaster cope with running an estate?” Or “there’s no reason for a sci-fi robot detective to know how to whitewater kayak, where’d she learn?” Or “if this guy is serving the emperor directly he has to be way high up in the space empire servant hierarchy, why is he doing this menial task for someone else? What’s his motive? Does he perhaps have the secret space telepathy?”

Anyway I’m always DELIGHTED to find a fic or writer who asks these questions because the fics themselves are universally bangers.

person who knows how logistical things works has picked up the cannon, hefted it thoughtfully, and put a single chalk mark precisely on the problem.

how does your rook feel about paperwork? how are they with filling out forms? do they leave things to the very last moment? do they trick someone else into doing it?

Feel free to @ me or rb, I’m just super curious and weirdly into the mundane grating aspects of fantasy worlds

Ember is terrible at paperwork. She's never really had to do it? She's not even seen as a citizen of Tevinter, so she sees no reason to do their lame paperwork, either 🤷🏻‍♀️

Plus, she's only recently learned how to read and write thanks to Lorelei's literacy program at the Shop. She's still very slow at it. And even among the Shadows, she was notorious for never filing her AARs on time - let alone properly (it drove Tarquin, an archivist in his day job, up the wall! Which is part of why Ember kept doing it 😂).

But she does try to learn what sorts of things were important for "team paperwork" and communications when she was traveling with Harding and Varric. If only because she felt left out when they were going over all their papers lol.

Thankfully, Harding ends up helping pre-sort and manage the bulk of the Veilguard missives and communications once Ember's running the team. Her experience with the Inquisition came in handy! Neve and Lucanis also pitch in, especially when it comes to accounting and intel reports.

Meanwhile, Ember is usually out and about on a mission... She may be doing this to avoid said mountains of paperwork 😅 at least until she absolutely has to (also adding Ember to the ADHD Rook pile lol)

(Yes, YES more ADHD Rooks and I adore this about Lorelei so so much. And the idea of Tarquin's aghast face has delighted me to no end)

And good on Ember for figuring out how to do the whole paperwork thing efficiently! Sometimes it's just gotta be a team effort...especially when she's so, so so so so sso so so busy hehe!

Zea Laidir doesn't mind paperwork, esp when it's related to a treasure hunt and they need to figure out where something came from & where it's going- but there are times when she hates it and will absolutely put if off to the last minute. The only time she got someone else to do her paperwork for her was when she had her hand wrapped from an injury and couldn't write.

Elsbeth de Riva enjoys paperwork. "If you don't have it filled out correctly, then you can't get paid." is what Viago told her once when she wanted to skip out on it and it echos in her mind every once in awhile. Also if she doesn't keep accurate inventory for all the ingredients for her poisons/potions then how can she make them? (can't start one and then realize she's out of an important ingredient and can't get it in time- now it's ruined). She's such a de Riva when it comes to paperwork, that she already has the correct forms pulled out before the body's cooled off.

ZEA!!! I totally see how figuring out the remaining mystery of a treasure would be more manageable than other forms of paperwork!! And that's what last minutes are for sometimes....for storing the last thing you want to do 😅😅

And I'm enamoured with and delighted by Elsbeth's timely approach! And for sure, there's something especially annoying about realising you have ingredients missing partway through a recipe!

Thank you for sharing, I love these insights!!!

Esha HATES IT WITH A VENGEANCE. the bane of her Circle life. someone had to order all the Engineering department's materials etc, coordinate workers, and somehow that someone always ended up being her. probably because she was the elf, and that's what you do with elves - give them the stuff no one else wants to do. she thought she'd got away from all that with Varric, but nope! someone's gotta make sure the growing Veilguard team has enough coin for food and new equipment.

...okay, yes, that's still her. she wants to make sure it's done RIGHT, and no one else on the team has much (if any) project management experience, so! over time it becomes a way to take care of them, much as Lucanis and Bellara cook, or Harding, Davrin and Taash clean, or the other mages do healing. she hates it even then, but it's a lot easier to put up with in that light.

(she still leaves a lot until the last minute though. #adhd)

GNASHING MY TEETH. Honestly it makes so much sense that Esha would hate it, given how it's been interwoven with her marginalisation! Plus the executive dysfunction!!

ohhhhh my gosh also I love paperwork being a form (hehe) of team support!!! Sometimes you need time pressure to get things going. sometimes last minute is the best minute for it 😌😌

(also....the circle engineering department into the nocen todayyyy orrrr?)

Thank youuu!!!

Juan does their paperwork, they like getting paid.

Nerea lives on Paperwork, she loves being provably right.

Rinaldo does his own paperwork, he doesn't trust anyone.

Hiro gets Lucas (@apothe-cary) to do it because his one fuzzy braincell cannot be trusted.

Falcone does his own when he gets around to it, because forgery.

Lucas is doing almost everyone’s paper work, he actually enjoys it

Scarlet doesn’t know it exists until Viago says something about it and then scribbles on it making sure it’s illegible so Viago never asks her to do it again.

Baishan has already done it and has copies just in case they for some reason go missing.

Corbin..side eyed the paper work, then burns it. “Paper work? What paper work.”

Grey only did it because Lanti @wickedadaar told him to finish his work

Jerran didn't even know that he had paperwork due and he'd be a smartass about it if he's feeling irritated.

Jerran cannot be held responsible! time is a social construct! deadlines are a social construct! He has my full support 😌

Thank you, I'm absolutely delighted!!

Looook there really is something so fulfilling about paperwork all coming together, so I can see how Lucas would enjoy working through it. Also Baishan is so right about the back-ups (I do the same. Just in case!!!)

Scarlet is very thoughtful to attempt Viago's paperwork to begin with!!

For Grey, sometimes external motivation is necessary 😁

As for Corbin...I am terrified and impressed.

Neither Kai nor Ezra like paper work. The difference is Kai will begrudgingly do it. Ezra would rather listen to his elders at the necropolis than do paperwork.

Understandable!! Paperwork can be stressful!!! I wish Kai only the speediest of tasks and the simplest of forms, and honestly...how can Ezra be expected to handle paperwork when he's so busy pursuing an education??? 😌😌

LMAO ok i so adore all these form fill-out philosophies. Juan and Nerea are so relatable to me rn; I would pull a Hiro but Rinaldo and I are too cut from the same cloth. Also, colour me INTRIGUED about the forgery!!!
