Happy New Year!
My 2025 art summary and rant. As usual at the end of the year, I do a big cleanup on my PC and backup all my digital work (let this be a reminder for you to always do backup your data).
This year I don't have much work because I encountered burnout and art block for the first time in my life. Maybe it's my own fault, because I've been drawing every day since 2019, without days off, not counting the days when I was sick, which wasn't a wise choice (I don't think it even helped improve my drawing skills that much).
But at least I had time to learn how to sew my own clothes :) I made a winter coat from my mom's 25+ year-old fabric. This was my most eco-friendly project this year.
What didn't help reduce eco-anxiety was forced ai slop everywhere. I even switched to Linux because Windows pushed so many useless features. But the good news is that in 2025, many Linux distros worked out of the box, and switching to a new OS was not only fun but also very simple and free :)
Unfortunately AI Slope also affected video games, many game devs have started using AI in their work flow.
I would like game developers to be as transparent as possible in their use of the very unethical LLM, which was trained on the stolen works of artists, musicians, photographers, writers, etc. And I won't even mention how AI data centers harm the environment and the people living near them.
All LLM usage must be mentioned in online game stores (tag in Steam when?). Would I want to buy, play, and draw fan art from these games? Probably not.
So now I'm going back to replaying old games and my backlog, I hope it brings me a lot of joy and a couple of fan arts
