If you were also on Usenet around that time and found yourself reading especially bad game design posts thinking to yourself "this guy writes like he's eight years old", there's a non-zero chance you were right.)

I feel I should emphasise that this is not in any way aspirational. You think being an unsupervised preteen with access to Twitter will fuck a kid up? I was exactly the right age at exactly the right time to have been an unsupervised preteen on dial-up BBSes, Usenet, IRC, and first-generation web forums, more or less in that order. Frankly, it's remarkable I have as little wrong with me as I do.
