need That character absolutely delirious with fear. recoiling from everything. unable to parse what's happening around them, their mind stuck in fight or flight. shaking and hyperventilating. completely unconsolable even as they're wrapped in a crushing hug.

idea: a character who completely denies anything happened to them. maybe even in front of the person who saved them. maybe they make an elaborate lie about having gone on vacation or something like that
love this especially if its blatantly obvious to the other person that they're lying. maybe they've literally seen everything that happened themself and are now just flabbergasted like what do you MEAN nothing happened YOU ALMOST DIED
for your consideration: a character finally being rescued but still not believing it to be real. maybe they've hallucinated it before already, maybe they've completely forgotten who their friends evrn are. either way they are utterly defeated and pliant in their rescuers' hands. having completely given up on hopes of ever being saved.
one thing i reeeeeaaaally love is "I don't like you at all, I despise you, but what has been done to you is so terrible and so utterly against all my morals that I cannot in good conscience turn away from this. I'm going to help you not because I like you but because you're a human being and something horrible has been done to you and as a human being you deserve the bssic decency of someone helping you."
especially love it when it doesn't actually make the characters like each other or be on any sort of friendly terms afterwards. There's the gruff acknowledgement that it happened, and the associated gratitude, but still, there's no warmth or affection there, whatever the issue between them is goes too deep
YEAH IT'S SO GOOD. a character being shown kindness from the person who hates them the most (and vice versa) auuufhhh..... and i love how there's now this unspoken rule between them to not bring up whatever's happened, to not use it against each other.
Another question; what's your favourite whump scenario? You know, the one that you prefer over every other and that gets you every time no matter the characters?
recently i've been really into the idea of a character turning blind and deaf at the same time.
how vulnerable and helpless they must feel in that position. completely unaware of whats happening around them, who could lurk there. pressing their back against a wall to feel just a little less exposed. they jump at and fight every sudden touch, with no way of knowing whether it's friendly.
and once they do find someone they can trust, they cling onto them like a lifeline. everything dark and silent and that one hand they're holding keeps them grounded in reality. how much they'd panic and whimper if the person tried to pull away...👍
Because of your last reblog; Whumper who kidnapped two people and makes one of them submit with the threat of doing everything they're doing right now to Whumpee B too. So Whumpee A agrees to just let it happen and pretends everything is fine whenever Whumper brings them back to B to not make them feel guilty or scared (even though they're hurt and in pain and shaking) There's so much potential for self depreciation and guilt in this for both of them, after everything that happened comes to light - because Whumpee B feels guilty that A took everything upon them, for them, and A might hate himself for not fighting it or not finding another way out of this. Maybe B also reminds A of what happened so they can't look at them anymore now - or the other way round.

maybe B finds out ab this while they're still captured. They want it to stop but A somehow convinces them to let them keep doing this. And now every time A is taken away B has to sit w the knowledge of what is happening and that, really, it shouldve been them instead.
Whumpee who never feels clean after what whumper did to them (doesn't even have to be something s*xual) they stay in the shower or bathtub for hours and scrub themselves raw. When Caretaker realizes what they are doing they suggest - very carefully - if whumpee might let caretaker do the cleaning for them. And somehow - even though they are so much more gentle and softer with the sponge - whumpee feels cleaner after that than they ever did before without help.

LivingWeapon who was only ever allowed to rest when it was ordered so when caretaker tells them good night, thinking they’ll go to sleep instead they keep standing in front of caretaker’s door, ready to await new orders at any time of night. So when caretaker gets up at like three in the morning to get some water, LW is there, back straight, hands perfectly clasped behind their back and caretaker startles. „LW, what are you doing up?“ „Awaiting order, sir. As usual.“ And caretaker realizes with dread why LW always looks so tired, why they are always around no matter how early caretaker gets up and why they have never seen LW sleep ever before.

LW always waiting for permission before they do something... refusing to sleep or eat without it. they can never relax even for a moment because they're always "on duty" and awaiting orders...
actually all that matters in whump is when whumpee's friends look at them in silent awe at all the terrible things they have survived. when they treat them like a fragile porcelain doll that could crack at any time if they aren't careful enough. when they feel a punch in their gut every time whumpee cowers at a sudden loud noise.
