So far, Season 5 is 34 minutes shorter than Season 4.

Season 4 had to introduce Vecna and the characters weren't immediately in action mode in episode 1.

In season 5, we already know who we're up against and the action starts right away in episode 1.

That's why it's shorter. There's more action and less mystery.
