A Kpop idol: *is dating*
The fans:
this episode gave me a lot to think about actually. maybe i'm giving the drama too much credit and it's not going the route i think it's going at all but i'm a little unsure about where the romance is going.
this episode dealt a little with sena's illusions about raik and how she thought she knew him when she actually didn't. how she's having a hard time fitting this 3 dimensional person she now knows personally with the image she created of him inside her head and she almost wishes she could go back to just being one of his fans. i'm still a little confused about the whole reason for this (she says she's hurt but not sad or jealous so i had a hard time understanding what she's feeling exactly. she's hurt that she thought she knew him but realized that's not true? is getting close to him painful because now he's a real human being and not some figure she's put on a pedestal and her feelings as a fan are turning into real feelings? they didn't give enough clues on this) but after this episode i'm not sure it would be the best option if they did get together at the end.
raik i think is still very much in love with hyejoo and they have unfinished business. they were torn apart because of the dumb dating rules for idols, she's another one of those things he couldn't have because of the life he leads. she doesn't seem like an antagonist at all or an evil ex who's out to ruin him and they didn't have a toxic relationship. she's been likeable so far and she's even trying to help him.
chungjae clearly has a crush on sena and he's been next to her for a long time. he's a normal person with an everyday life and not a celebrity she's been idolizing for years.
so now i'm not convinced that the best route would be for sena to get with somebody she's been obsessing over for a very long time. she knows what vitamins he takes and what razor he uses! and not because he's told her these things personally or because they've been living together. like wouldn't it be weird to start dating somebody you just met but she's known you for years and knows so much stuff about you and has been neck deep in your business? like i said i'm probably giving the drama too much credit but this to me seems like a weird foundation to build a relationship on and they also both have other viable love interests. so idk
Thinking about the contrast between the lyrics of his solo song to him telling the doctor that he "disappeared a long time ago."
It's reminiscent of all those companies giving their groups/idols songs with themes of self-empowerment and "be myself" only for those same companies to exploit those same idols and/or try their best control their images.
Aegon was the son Viserys always said he wanted the male heir he mutilated Aemmaβs body for, the reason he kept trying again after her death. He got the boy. And thenβ¦ he barely looked at him. Viserys didnβt guide him, didnβt prepare him, didnβt protect him from becoming exactly what happens when a prince is raised without care or purpose. He didnβt even hate Aegon properly he just withdrew, which is worse. Aegon becomes a mess not bc heβs βborn bad,β but bc the one man whose approval mattered treated him like a walking reminder of guilt.
And Aemond⦠god. Aemond is the child Viserys should have recognized himself in. The one who loves dragons. The one who studies history, who wants to understand legacy and power, not just inherit it. And still, Viserys offers him nothing. No reassurance after he loses an eye. No acknowledgment that this kid is trying so hard to be worthy of something. He lets the court frame Aemond as the problem instead of seeing him as a boy who bled for the very symbols Viserys worshipped.
Helaena is maybe the cruelest irony. Sheβs the closest thing to what Viserys wanted to be: touched by prophecy, attuned to Valyrian mystery, quietly magical in a way he spent his whole life chasing through models and dreams. And yet he doesnβt see her. He doesnβt sit with her, doesnβt listen, doesnβt try to understand what sheβs saying. Sheβs right there the dreamer, the dragon-seer and sheβs completely alone. That neglect isnβt loud, but itβs brutal.
What makes it unbearable is that Viserys doesnβt just fail them he punishes them for existing. For being born of a marriage he chose. For reminding him of Aemma. For complicating his fantasy that naming Rhaenyra heir would magically fix everything. He projects his guilt and cowardice onto his younger children and then calls it love for his firstborn.
Because these kids werenβt monsters. They were walking embodiments of Viserysβs own desires heir, dreamer, dragon-knight and instead of loving them, he abandoned them emotionally and politically. And then ppl act shocked when everything burns.
Viserys didnβt just fail as a king. He failed as a father in the most intimate, corrosive way possible: by refusing to love the children who needed him most.
"Character would never do that" - Weeeaaaak. Laaaaame. Unimaginative.
How about "what would it take for character to do that?" What situation, what series of events, what drastic departures or terrible traumas or maybe miraculous happenings would have to unfold to make this request a reality??
Okay sure, there are probably some things that, depending on the character in question would absolutely, positively, one hundred percent never happen... but did you exhaust all possible routes before you wrote it off?

boyfriend!nanami who does not stand awkwardly outside the makeup store while you shop. no crossed arms, no aimless pacing, no impatient sighs. heβs right behind you the second you walk in, palm on your lower back. you ask if he wants to wait outside and he just raises a brow. βwhy would i?β and then heβs in there. scanning shelves like he knows what heβs looking for, gently nudging lipsticks toward you with a, βthis shade would suit you,β even though he has no idea what undertone you are or what that even means. stillβheβd buy it for you without a second thought. he just wants to see it on you.
boyfriend!nanami who follows you into the dressing room area, sits patiently on the little bench while you try things on. doesnβt even look up from his phone when the store clerk awkwardly tells him he canβt be thereββiβm her boyfriend,β he says, and doesnβt move. when you step out in something short, something clingy, something risky, his eyes drag slowly down your body and his jaw flexes like heβs debating whether he should let you leave the store in it or tear it off you right then and there. βget that one,β he murmurs, voice low. βiβll pay for it.β
boyfriend!nanami who doesnβt just tolerate your routinesβhe studies them. holds out his hand when youβre swatching foundations on the back of yours, lets you use his skin for comparison like itβs nothing. when youβre indecisive, he reads the label over your shoulder, murmurs, βyou already have something like this,β even though he pretends not to pay attention when you do your makeup in the morning. βbut if you want it, get it.β and when you do? he slams his amex card down and he carries the bags, doesnβt let you lift a thing, and brushes a kiss to your temple while muttering something about how beautiful youβll lookβlike you arenβt already.

I do feel like hotd!alicent only works if you look at her through a queer lens I see so many people complaining about the show because her actions "don't make sense" like why was she so mad at rhaenyra why did she stab rhaenyra with a knife why did she go after rhaenyra in dragonstone why did she betray aegon for rhaenyra after everything????
because she's gay guys. because she's a fucking lesbo.
no matter how hard i try i will always be that little girl wondering why everyone is better friends with eachother than her and begging to be loved
