also really funny fact but all my controllers have been purchased by my mom or her boyfriend and I never ask for them in a specific color but they always get red ones. maybe I'm just too sensitive or whatever but Girl Defined spent years profiting off of the attention they got posting obscenely hateful things about trans women and so no, I don't think she "deserves credit for being honest even though it put her career in danger" and no I don't think she's a good person for being gracious enough to monetize her husband's deconstruction "despite the fact that it could drive away her fanbase"

continuing my reread of the Mismatched Mates series, I skipped the only vampire book because I fucking hate it and I don't want to reread it, so after the shockingly pleasant experience that was reading The Alpha Experiment (I think I liked this more the second time!) now I'm almost done with Lost Touch and I feel JUST AS CONFLICTED as I did the first time I read it

like on one hand.. I think I feel better about the romance and have a firmer grasp on their dynamic! and on the other hand, WOW this is a shit show and their situation makes me sad! with the other couples who "have no choice" they all lowkey DO still have a choice, but in this book Asher just straight up has no choice and while I respect the fantasy and enjoy their relationship, holy fuck it depresses me.

This is also one of those books where I just wish they'd talk about their feelings seriously, because the entire arc of them in the hotel after visiting the Armitages is just so pointless to the story and kind of miserable in a way that doesn't even feel good (and yes, I know misery can feel good, I'm a whump enjoyer at heart) I kind of wanted them to just mate at the Armitages instead of having their miscommunication that lasts one day. one single day before they mate. I think the idea of a third act break up would've worked better if they were actually broken up, for longer, but how short of a time it is makes it feel pointless on so many levels

otherwise, I'm not sure I've enjoyed this book more than the first time (tho I did totally forget how hot some of the sex scenes were so that's 😗👌) but I'm definitely enjoying it.

on my current reread of the series, specifically these single-POV books, I've been trying to pay more attention to the wolfy behavior because it's a big tell for how the other character is feeling and I honestly don't recall thinking much of it the first time I read these books. I want to be more cognizant of how the author describes their body language and what that tells us (the readers, who know that their eyes glowing = horny) as opposed to what the main character is thinking (usually that they're scared) if that makes any sense at all.

it's honestly really amusing that nobody gets the Glee reference in my bio because for some reason millennials think it's a really sick burn to point it out, as if they're super intelligent big-brain geniuses for assuming that it's something *I* came up with, even though it is in fact just a quote from a tv show
