Last year when I wrote that xhs post I said to myself no more negative angry posts, but the year is just starting and I'm here once again gobsmacked at this new "you met me at a very Chinese time in my life" trend. Wow, being Chinese is a fashion statement now? I cannot even begin to explain how this sounds to me, as a Chinese person in the west, because these people simply never had a single thought in their head before jumping on the next hype. "What's the problem if I'm having fun?" Hmm I'm not sure, you're using the Soviet Union flag and music in your video in a condescending way? Don't @ me like they actually care about politics, it's full on racism.
It's the same thing again that was in my xhs post, they are wearing our 'identity' because it's cool now. My brain can not for the life of me not be bitter about this due to all the racist things I have endured my entire life for being Chinese. How is this happening again? Was my suffering a joke all this time for them to act out some stereotypes on the internet for some likes? You all forgot the massive hate crimes that happened during covid already? It wasn't that long ago.
In fact, during the year since the xhs situation and now this, I have received sinophobic comments just as before, nothing has changed. If these people are so in a "Chinese time", why have I not seen any of them fight back the racists remarks? They let it run wild in their comment sections and won't delete or defend Chinese people, of course they won't, they are also making jokes about being a spy for the ccp. They are only "Chinese" when it's convenient, when playing games, eating Chinese food, reading danmei and all dandy. What's the next thing? "I marry a Chinese man to become fully Chinese!" Take them, there's an abundance of them after the one child policy.
Also that adidas jacket is ugly af, but hey if you want to be in touch with your Chinese side by purchasing an overpriced track top from a German brand nobody is gonna stop you. You can watch Netflix 3 Body Problem and ponder about the cultural revolution while wearing it too.
