"you don't get to write the ending, not this time" is what el says to him, basically denying him the title of storyteller vs will explicitly calling him the storyteller... once again showing mike that he can be whoever he wants to be... there are levels to this

mike is never his truest self without will, will sees him for who he really is. mike never has to pretend to be someone else around will, he can just be - and will sees him completely.

No like… it’s actually fucking insane. I don’t think people realize how INSANE it is from a writing standpoint. Mike is CANONICALLY in love with Will’s feelings for him. They couldn’t resolve this plot point without byler being canon because acknowledging it would have made it obvious that Mike was in love with Will. He ends the show IN LOVE with WILL and thinking it’s all from El. That is crazy.

They had to completely ignore the narrative they wrote to avoid byler. They had to straight up pretend it never existed, leaving the story itself unfinished. For what? Because they’re too scared to make two boys kiss? Omfg it’s unreal!

so wait why do we see the mindflayer in the upside down at the end of season 2?? before that we only really see it being shaped by 001 in dimx. there’s no indication will saw it in the UD.

and if the mindflayer is in dimx and not the UD, how was it able to possess will? it can slip between dimensions with the whole wormhole in between? or can will himself actually slip between dimensions??? then why did the camera also pick up the mindflayer being there when joyce watches the halloween footage back?

and how do the demos get down to the UD??? they’re not native to the UD does vecna just drop ‘em through a rift? do they not take fall dmg???? does he make a floating stone staircase for them?? how did henry move between dimx and the UD? can he fly??? i’m confused!!!

i have MORE. in s2 they burn the mindflayer particles out of will. the particles stay in the right side up and by s3 it starts possessing mice and then move on to people in order to build the meat flayer. but will is still connected, he can sense when billy is “activated”, and when the meat flayer approaches the cabin. they kill it by closing the gate which severs the connection. then a month or two later will moves to california and can’t feel the hivemind. s4 he arrives back in hawkins after the “quake” meaning the connection to the UD is reopened, and he immediately feels the presence. but we must remember that they only killed one physical manifestation of the mindflayer, as far as we know the original swirling particle version is somewhere in dimx.

so thennnn, in s5, how does killing this new manifestation sever his connection???? the particle version should be out there somewhere still… and the kids coughed out their particles so they still exist in some form. why was there never a moment where will clarifies and lets the audience know he no longer feels the connection? it doesn’t matter too much in the end because of the exotic matter bomb collapsing the bridge. but in the meantime, you’d think the particle version of the MF could just rush them as there trying to escape the abyss because will should be still be connected. i don’t know if any of this made sense
