liu mingyan using her brother for makeup practice all the time growing up but he never went out in it (not bothered about the fact that it’s makeup, just that the texture of his lips in particular feels Wrong). fast forward to present— lmy having an important event coming up (read: date with a Pretty Girl) and once again ambushing lqg at bai zhan peak so that she can try out possible makeup looks on him. but this time, he doesn’t have time to wipe it off before he gets summoned for an emergency peak lord meeting.
he strolls into the meeting, all broad shouldered and confident and no-nonsense as usual, and the entire room goes silent. the silence breaks seconds later with the sound of a dropped glass shattering as it hits the floor. lqg is confused why everyone is looking at him. sqq is fanning himself so intense that lqg briefly wonders if he’s going to qi deviate. lbh looks like he’s chugged three bottles of vinegar one moment, but then the next moment he begins to stare at lqg with such a heated gaze that the war god can feel the tips of his ears turning pink.
after a solid five minutes of Strange peak lord behavior, lqg demands that the meeting begin and that they stop and wasting his time. it does eventually start, but he can feel eyes on him the entire time. at some point, he is pressed shoulder-to-shoulder with sqq on his left side and lbh on his right, which helps stop the stares for Some Reason… but lqg can’t concentrate when he feels sqq lean against his shoulder and nudge his fan into lqg’s chest, nor can he focus when lbh keeps whispering commentary about the meeting in his ear or sneakily wrapping his arm around lqg’s waist.
sqq and lbh invite lqg back to the bamboo house for lunch, but their behavior is still Strange. lqg is Confused why sqq keeps using his fan to shield lqg’s face from onlookers or why lbh keeps glaring at everyone on the way to qing jing peak, his arm wrapped tightly around lqg’s arm. once they are in private, somehow the sticky behavior intensifies, and part of lqg’s brain is telling him he needs to take off on cheng luan ASAP. but how can he leave when sqq offers to comb his hair, or when lbh places a steaming bowl of congee in front of him (with extra meat, just the way he likes it)?
