Honestly I think it was a missed opportunity not to put Linkle in Age of Calamity. She got lost again.
Happy New Year everyone! We're excited to continue our work through 2026 in promoting and supporting our little corner of fandom. We have a challenge for all of you this year, regardless of the fandom you're in.
Every year, fan creators have continued to comment on a decrease in engagement for their works. Even worse, the influx of bot comments across all platforms has only skyrocketed. Yikes! Quite the recipe for a disheartened community.
Social media has been designed to encourage rapid consumption, but not meaningful engagement. This is a bad diet for everyone in fandom. It leads to a passive culture where creators feel unheard for their hard work, turning too many people away from the hobby and leaving everyone unsatisfied.
But we can change this! As a community, we can fix how we engage with fandom by making a concentrated effort to be active participants in fandom. Not just liking or reblogging, but actually going and supporting works. Leaving comments and discussion. Engaging with others. Building habits of meaningful support! A balanced diet takes many facets, not just the creation process!
Creators, this means you too! Creating is not a substitute for participation! Take it from me! I've read and reviewed over 90 works for EH's Story Spotlight project, and I am now our most reviewed member in our archives despite being on AO3 for little over a year. Showing up for others fills your cup too! Go inspire others! Someone showed up for you when you started off. Now's your chance to return the favor and lead by example.
Here is your challenge to help you get started. Last year I got through over 60 works by reading a chapter from two works every day. I challenge you to read one a day. It doesn't have to be fic. It could be a comic. It could be a news article. It could be original fiction. But if you want to fix your relationship with passivity, you have to start somewhere. So here's a small, tangible goal to help build the habit. One chapter or one-shot, every day, WITH a comment. Doesn't have to be long. It's just to start.
And then keep going.
We're rooting for all of you here at Expanding Hyrule. And we'll be here to keep promoting fandom in every way we can.
I know it's wildly racist and is the "nobility = pale skin" trope, but the real time whitewashing of zelda in wind waker never fails to make me laugh my ass off from how jarring it is. It literally feels like a parody of itself
They hit her with the unseasoned chicken beam 💔💔💔
why are you white
All of the odds were against him, but after 25 years, the Blue Dog won the race! It may be a little dog-shaped bunch of ones and zeros, but this little guy got me right in the heart. <3

i miss you dungeons i miss you companions i miss you musical instrument i miss you music being important i miss you puzzle
Bigger Luke Theory is the perfect satire of "fan theories" existing divorced from textual analysis because it uses all the tools of treating the fiction at face value as a real thing that happened, to reach a conclusion that makes absolutely no fucking sense in any interpretation of the story
