Zephyr’s Glossary

Hello! Welcome to my Riordanverse blog. I’ll be posting all sorts of stuff related to the series, from my character designs to my headcanons and even rewrite thoughts. Hopefully chronicling it for the world to see with make it more concrete! Feel free to ask questions, send ideas, fanart, etc!

Under the “read more” is a list of terms I’ve changed from the series in my rewrite for various reasons, so you know what I’m talking about.

Cabin 13 Headcanons (#1)

  • Because of how it was justified not to be built before the end of the Second Titanomachy, campers who survived still seem a bit more wary around the cabin than others. However, as campers cycle through, this mood dissipates, and the place begins to be seen as a more natural part of Camp Half-Blood with time.
  • Most of the furniture in the cabin is thrifted by Nico di Angelo. There’s a lot of furniture from the 1930s, as well as a reliance on older, 30s-40s technology. Nico keeps a radio and record player in the cabin for any special use.
  • Because of Nico’s status as Prince of the Underworld (and how he gets on well enough with Mr. D), he gets away with fudging some of the rules. This allows him to host game nights in his cabin with his friends, including both a Mythomagic session and a DnD campaign. The DnD campaign is, ironically, far-future/sci-fi themed. (Members of the campaign include Cecil Markowitz, Chiara Benvenuti, Jason Grace, Lou Ellen Blackstone, and Will Solace, with Nico being the dungeonmaster).
  • On the outside, it gives off a more intimidating vibe, which is especially potent to non-chthonic demigods. While many can fight this feeling with time, newer campers can struggle to overcome it. Though again, with time, it becomes less of a directed fear of Hades’ presence, and more of just a softer, off-putting vibe.
  • The cabin’s exterior takes some inspiration from Northern Italian architecture, with a shingled roof and heavy bricks. Subtle patterns of different stone and paint create geometric shapes along the outer walls. The main doorway is slightly arched. If one looks closely, they can see small gems embedded in the walls.
  • If one doesn’t need too much light to see, the cabin can be a great place to stop by for a couple minutes. Given its darker interior, it can make it easier to cope with headaches (especially if the Infirmary is busy). However, to non-chthonic demigods, the shadows can seem to sometimes move on their own, independent from their owners.
