By the Wyrmwound’s calamity, all are reborn.

Aether are no strangers to the universe’s unfeeling ferocity. Time flows only forward, entropy does not decrease, energy is ever-present and ever-changing: these are absolute tenets that trample everything in their paths.

Life, however, employs an additional tenet: hunger.

When the Aether fell, otherworldly beasts descended on the collapsing society, seeking the dragons’ sharp minds and magic for themselves. Many were afflicted and many succumbed, but a handful found themselves in the Scarred Wasteland. Lost, confused, and struggling for their lives, these Aether searched desperately for a solution.

At the Wyrmwound, Aberrations leapt to and fro about the pestilence, adapting and evolving before the Aether’s very eyes. In one final grasp at life, one final mad dash from the beasts, many Aether chose to dive alongside the native dragons. And from this chaos crawled eleven.

The cauldron’s esoteric disease turned the beasts’ hunger back on them, and the surviving Aether leeched the power from them, locking the attackers to their heads like eldritch crowns in a show of endurance perfectly matching the creed of the Wasteland. The dragons’ newfound strength enhanced their elemental affinity, and they rose from the Wyrmwound with eyes of flame and sky and rot, and onlookers rioted and rallied around these newly-inaugurated survivalists. The most devoted and adventurous organized into the present Clan, eternally wandering as per the eleven Aether's curiosity.
