An odd creature cocks her head at you as you alight on the large floating island. She seems to have been waiting for you. Smiling, the being presses the palms of her hands together and offers a short, polite bow. You barely hear her words, too confused by her appearance; she looks like she has the bottom half of a Wildclaw and the upper half of a Serthis. The scales on the lower part of her body are a rich tawny bronze, and the skin of her upper body is a pale cream.
"Hello there, and welcome to Auratide Village! I am Elai, the keeper and guardian of the Clan that calls this place home." She grins a bit more at your puzzled expression. "You're wondering how I knew to come greet you, yes? The Priestess of this Clan can scry the future, and she foretold you arrival. But that is a trivial matter. Come! We enjoy having visitors."
She moves aside, letting you have the first real glimpse of the island before you. You blink in surprise; in the near distance you see what appear to be many buildings of varying size. No wonder it's called a village! Elai chuckles, seeming to sense your shock.
"Our numbers recently outgrew our previous territory, so we decided to move to a place where it'd be a bit roomier. Of course, we can't exactly make lairs out of caves when none exist, so we built ourselves a village. It's much more agreeable compared to how we were living before." She leans in a bit, a friendly gleam in her eyes as she adds in a conspiratorial voice, "I may or may not have had something to do with the move.
"But enough about all that! Come, come, the others are waiting to meet you!"
