He had always had an affinity to the bones.

From the day he hatched, he was drawn to them, almost mesmerized by their shapes, color, the smoothness of a bone laid bare to weeks in the sun. To many, it was simply disturbing, and their discomfort toward him only grew as he began to use the gifts he hadn't even known he'd had. He was different, a dragon made to work with the bones, to craft them into something more. He had not known, not until many years later, of this purpose.

Throughout his youth, he learned to craft various tools from the bones, starting with arrowheads and spears, then on to precise tools like needles and hooks. Eventually his skill became so great, he was able to fashion whole sets of armor, jewelry, and even chimes from them, wearing his creations with pride.

However, his macabre appearance led to distaste and rumor. Everywhere he went, dragons would scowl and sneer at him, claiming he'd taken the bones from dragons he'd killed in cold blood. Eventually, he earned the moniker "Boneknapper", as if his materials were stolen, and not found throughout his travels.

Certainly, he was also a skilled hunter, and many of his bones were acquired through such endeavors, but most were scavenged and collected. Nevertheless, he did not take such claims to heart, and eventually his name became one that was an armor all it's own, and even once he joined the SkyKeepers, he held on to it. Only his mate, Desdemona, whom he'd met in his new clan, knew his true name.

It was Luna, the clan Matriarch, that took notice of his skills with bone. She had a strong connection to the Lightweaver, and upon inquiry she'd learned that Boneknapper was in fact a long lost Bone Weaver, his egg having been misplaced all those years ago. She encouraged him to connect with the others of his kind, to learn more of their skills and blessings, knowing it would be a credit to her clan to have such a dragon amongst their ranks. She also knew it would help heal the wounds that Boneknapper hid from the world, wounds caused by being treated as "other" for so long.

With this, and much encouragement from Desdemona, he decided to join the ranks of Bone Weavers, and see just where his lineage would take him.
