Once he was a pilgrim, but he would sooner call his past self a shell without soul. Sometimes the name "Dragonhome" is a misnomer. The sun and dry heat can be unforgiving to the unprepared like Frostbite. Broken like the tower he traveled towards, strength failed him as he dragged himself across the rock and dust. Frostbite collapsed onto the barren earth, with his goal visible over the horizon, like a mirage. It taunted him. The young mirror black out. When he came to, it wasn't as a departed soul within the Lightweaver's embrace, but laid out on furs and rugs inside a blessedly cool cavern. A tundra was slumped nearby, clearing having fallen asleep while watching over him. The sentiment was touching. It convinced Frostbite that maybe it was worth his time to stay a while and learn about his saviors. Someday those memories may lie buried inside the Riddleways, waiting for a dragon to relive them again. For now, they rest solidly within Frostbite's mind. He cherishes them, just as he cherishes his adopted clan. The large gaoler didn't lose his skills in combat and hunting when he was morphed from mirror to Ancient. If anything, he became fiercer, bolder, and ready to use his newfound size and strength to taken down even the mightiest prey. After collapsing on his way to the Pillar, he healed within the Wayfinder's halls and found himself at peace. And when he had conversations with that kindly tundra who had saved him, he found peace as well. When he left the Wayfinders to continue his journey, however, the darkness returned. Frostbite stopped, realizing that he had no more strength to walk. The hollow feeling in his heart-- it was too much to bear. It made his paws feel like lead, and each step towards that Pillar added more and more weight. Where was he going? Why was he going there? What was it exactly that he sought? He couldn't go back to being the wretched creature that he was before. He just couldn't. So he let his paws carry him back the way he came, towards that spot of brightness just a few days behind him. Towards peace. To a place to call home. The small, burgeoning clan called the Wayfinders welcomed him in. He never did make it to that tower. |

Personality
Frostbite truly believes that he owes the Wayfinders his life, so he has given that life to them body and soul. While many are invariably loyal to the clan, Frostbite is passionate. Perhaps only Snowstripe can match him for that passion, and it might be why the two of them get along famously. On the other paw, he and his counterpart, Frenzy, are ever fated to rile each other up-- often to blows. Here, Frostbite's imposing bulk belies a keen intellect and sharp mind. The gaoler is more dangerous in battle the longer you fight him. He's always watching his opponents' moves, always calculating a strategy. It makes him a dangerous opponent and one of the Wayfinders' strongest dragons. |
