► NOTES She was once a siren who lived just offshore of the Windsinger's Plateau. She exploited the air currents, using them to send out her song, like a net with which to reel in treasures or meals. Sometimes both. Then came the day she saw the crimson Guardian, and she had to have him, but he was denied to her. Nothing had ever been denied to her before. She swore that he would be hers. When his ship crossed the waters where she lay in wait, she followed him, and she successfully ensnared him again. She took him down into the darkness where she could admire him to her heart's content. She had had to abandon her lair by the Windswept Plateau, but no matter; this Guardian would be the crown jewel of a new and more magnificent hoard. She had underestimated his Charge. The frigid Imperial came to rescue her Guardian again. With her own fierce magic she smote the siren, weakening her severely, sending her hurtling down into the depths. It took the siren some time to recover. It was not just the biting pain of being sealed deep in a shell of ice. It was also the deeper, more intimate pain of knowing that her prize would be forever out of her reach. She had seen the red Guardian look at another dragoness' face, heard that dragoness' voice. More beautiful and bewitching than hers...She didn't stand a chance. When she finally broke free, her power ranged unchecked. All the Wind magic within her boiled loose, stirring up the sea, whipping up a terrific storm. The following day, the clan's scavengers found her. They slit open her cocoon, and out she tumbled: smaller now, much diminished -- and most crucial of all, largely silent. She was no longer inclined to sing; there didn't seem to be much point to it anymore. Only the wind listens to her now. She takes some small comfort in this. She coaxes it so that it takes the ship where it needs to go. Why should she help the dragons she fought with before? Don't ask her -- an answer will not be forthcoming. She doesn't know for certain, either. Perhaps it doesn't really matter now.

Nairu | Guardian He heard her when she first broke out of her cage, and he followed the sound of her voice halfway across the world. He sits with her now in the belly of the ship, listening to her voice. Sometimes it is he who speaks. Sometimes she even listens. |

Mara | Handler The Captain is a fair and gracious manager, all things considered. Zelamar doesn't pretend to understand her, or to care. The instructions are easy to understand and follow, and her existence on board the ship is relatively peaceful, so that's good enough for her. |

Aidan | Formerly Enthralled She liked him very much and wanted him all to herself, much the same way a wealthy dragon desires things to collect. No more, though. She has grown frustrated. She doesn't want to try again in case this attempt, too, will end in bitter failure. |

Ran | Friend? Zelamar first encountered this siren a long, long time ago, when she was herself in her true form. Their first meeting was not cordial, but since then, she has mellowed out considerably and can communicate with Ran in a less predatory fashion. |

 Zelamar is capable of vast violence, easily able to take on several skilled fighters at once -- but repeated defeats have made her less eager, and therefore less dangerous and perceptive. _______________________________________ |
 In her current form, she is much diminished, listless and not particularly independent. Her health is good, but she lacks spirit. _______________________________________ |
 A great deal of her power lies in her enthralling voice, but she is reluctant to use it now, knowing that there are others who far exceed her. She mostly makes use of her Wind magic instead. _______________________________________ |
 A bit confused and ignorant of the lives and morals of surface-dwellers. She can learn by observation, but remains turned inward most of the time. _______________________________________ |
 Her voice can make her irresistible to other dragons, but without it, she comes across as withdrawn. Most dragons can immediately sense that she isn't what she appears to be, which makes them quite wary of her. _______________________________________ |
 She had some very bad luck when she was still plying the ocean trenches, but her life has calmed down since she fell in with the Disillusionists. _______________________________________ |
