Simon is pure energy. He is the son of the Windsinger, the brother of Athena, and the clan's favorite goofball. Despite his silliness, he is a formidable warrior and a fantastic conversationalist. He is the friend and counselor of current clan members as well as the designated welcomer of newcomers, and in this role he often initiates play-fighting and good conversation in a way that easily makes new members feel at home. He is Athena's biggest supporter and stands by her side through everything.

Simon is nonbinary and always accepts they/them and he/him pronouns and occasionally she/her pronouns. He might be aromantic/asexual, but in all honesty he doesn't care enough to think about how he wants to identify in that area and really just wants to cultivate friendships. His favorite color is purple.

Personality
Simon is a very gentle and caring dragon with boundless energy. Like any spiral he has two modes: 100 mph and unconscious. He also tends to be anxious and overthink things, and Athena can sense this and is able to calm him down.

In his youth, he was not always the most self-aware, and his desire to be physically close to others could sometimes be off-putting. He could be rather antsy and anxious if he did not have a good outlet for his energy, and he had a difficult time being calm and cool. He would appear to be oblivious to sarcasm and dry humor, but in reality he was consciously choosing to assume the genuinity of others. If ever a dragon tried to take advantage of his apparent cluelessness or make jokes at his expense, Simon was more than capable of defending himself and could absolutely devastate them with his unexpectedly clever comebacks.

As an adult, Simon has not lost his energy but has figured out how to channel it into building relationships with others.

Physical Appearance
Simon is a very long and thin dragon, even for a spiral. His body length is only slightly longer than Athena's, but his weight is about 11% of her body weight. Most of his scales are a light pink, and the membranes on his wings, arms, and legs are a pale, almost translucent, cream color. He has luminous pale green eyes and has sky blue and dark pink markings along his body.

RELATIONSHIPS

Father The Windsinger crafted Simon's egg from the elements of the Windswept Plateau. As he could not protect and raise him and Athena in person, he assigned a Gusting Goblin to take his place as their guardian.

Sister and Best Friend Simon's best friend is his sister, Athena the Skydancer. The two of them are like peas in a pod, two sides to the same coin. In childhood they were practically joined at the hip and did everything together. Although they now have greater responsibilities to others in the clan, they still make time for each other. As Simon is asexual and Athena is pansexual, they often joke about how she took all the sexuality when they were created. If You're the Coffee You're My Home

Guardian / Mother Figure This Gusting Goblin was tasked by the Windsinger to take care of Simon and his sister's eggs. She guarded them night and day, fighting off predators, keeping them warm as they slept, and training them to be strong fighters. She is the true leader of the Altarian Clan, offering words of wisdom to her son Simon as he strives to make the best decisions for the dragons in his care.

Best Friend One of Simon's closest friends is Pallas the coatl. They have a deep sense of trust that has been built over their years of fighting side-by-side. Although Pallas won't admit it, he loves Simon's snuggles.

Familiar Balloony the Living Luminance is his familiar.

Adopted Brother Bentley is Simon's adopted brother, and Simon was Bentley's very first friend. When Athena, Pallas, and Simon stumbled across the young tundra and the two eggs he was guarding, Simon immediately appointed himself as Bentley's older brother and was primarily responsible for his upbringing. The two of them get along very well on account of having similarly energetic and youthful personalities.

LIFE HISTORY

Birth and Childhood The eggs of Simon and his sister Athena are rumored to have been crafted from the elements of the Windswept Plateau by the Windsinger himself and placed under the care of a Gusting Goblin. The Goblin would curl around the fledglings at night and retreat during the day to keep watch from afar, only to be brought out when the situation warranted intervention (which, due to the pair's tendency to get into trouble, was more often than not). Athena and Simon passed an idyllic childhood in the peaceful safety of the Zephyr Steppes.

Coming of Age
While at first it was just the two of them against the world, the young dragons quickly grew to adulthood, and soon they were joined by a Coatl named Pallas with whom they became great friends. The trio went adventuring through new lands, fighting off hostile shade-touched creatures and making exciting discoveries each day, meanwhile growing into into formidable warriors. All three of them desired to live in a larger clan, and so Athena and Pallas began making plans for their own clutch of eggs. However, Athena and Pallas soon realized that although they cared about and trusted each other deeply, they were not compatible as mates as they simply did not love one another in a romantic way. For a time the three of them were in despair as they each yearned to be a part of a greater community but did not know how else to grow their clan. Pallas even went away for a while to live in the Ashfall Waste with the hopes of finding a suitable mate, but returned empty-handed... until one day while traveling along the Woodland Path they came across a young Tundra and the pair of wind eggs he was guarding.

Attempts to get information from the Tundra resulted in nothing. He was dishevelled and underfed, and the only thing he could tell them was that his name was Bentley and these were his eggs. The trio decided to take Bentley and the two eggs into their clan, an offer he accepted quickly when Pallas mentioned they would feed him well. With that, their clan doubled in size.

The next few weeks were focused on getting Bentley proper nutrition and incubating the eggs. Bentley refused to leave the eggs: as soon as they relocated the nest to the Zephyr Steppes he never strayed more than twenty feet from the eggs and insisted on sleeping with them every night. Simon spent the second most amount of time with the eggs as he committed himself to being Bentley's older brother, while Athena and Pallas mostly went on hunting excursions to provide for their growing family. The turmoil they had experienced earlier was now replaced by a sense of peace as they all felt they had found their purpose: seeking out the orphaned dragons of Sornieth and raising them within a positive, nourishing community.

Adulthood Simon is now a proud leader of his beloved clanmates who have accumulated over the years. Since that summer, other parentless dragons have joined them, including Evana, Charlotte, Feicui, Sisarqua, and many more.

HOBBIES

Leisure
The two things Simon loves most in this world are making new friends and snuggling with them.

His sister Athena was the first target of his enthusiastic physical affection. When the Gusting Goblin curled around the two hatchlings at night, Simon would curl around Athena. Pallas was the next target when he joined, and he was less enthusiastic about it than Athena had been and was slow to warm up. Bentley was the perfect stuffed-animal-size when they found him, and each night until the eggs hatched Simon would curl around the young tundra and his sisters.

In comparison to his sister's adventurous spirit, Simon is generally more content to stay within the Zephyr Steppes, dancing among its gentle breezes and feeling connected to their father. However, he is more than happy to stay by her side as she goes adventuring to new lands, because she is his home.

Sometime during adolescence, Simon picked up the habit of saying weird things just because they rhymed. Such phrases include "swiggity swoodle my body's a noodle" among others.

Simon's very favorite season is late summer because that's when the Twisting Crescendo is at its most powerful.

Hoard
Simon likes things that are purple and pink. He likes feathers and other soft things. His hoard is also his bed. Sometimes he wakes up with blue smudges from the preserved petals, but he doesn't seem to mind.

OTHER NOTES

I dont recall the lore reason but until I just switched them (9/29/22) Simon had the noodle wind spirit and Sara had the gusting goblin. But the Gusting Goblin is Simon's mom, and Sara needs the Spirit because she's the wind rep, so they have been switched.

He has qualities of the following fictional characters: Abed from Community

Simon is ambidextrous. He has the singing voice of Adam Young (Owl City).

He originally had the lyrics to the song "Where No One Goes" from HTTYD 2 by Jonsi, and then he had "Fragile Things" from Centaurworld, and then he has his current song.

The other day two family members were having a relatively deep conversation and instead of joining them I was in the background banging pots and pans because I had spontaneously decided to reorganize the baking cabinets. This is peak Simon energy.

Mother the Gusting Goblin was formerly Simon's familiar. For a period of time he was assigned Leafa the Leafy Moth but she doesn't fit into lore. On Easter Sunday 2023 he was assigned a Living Luminance familiar because it matched the colors of his new apparel piece Seapetal Flowerfall.

He represents the child in me. Playful, pure, naïve, carefree, asexual, and agender/nonbinary.

He used to have the sentences "Soon the goblin was joined by a Spirit of Air and then inexplicably by a Goliath Mountain Beetle. While the former immediately bonded with Simon, the latter developed an attachment to Athena." in his Birth and Childhood section, but I removed it because it was a little simple and convenient.

Balloony, his familiar, is named after the character in Phineas and Ferb.
