| RABIES |
Role: Outfitter and Chronicler of Travels
Most people from beyond the Scarred Wasteland consider it a very unfortunate thing that Rabies is so friendly. It’s really a wonder how a dragon born to the Wind flight ended up so truly upsetting.
The general consensus is that something must have happened to him during a trip across the border between the Windswept Plateau and the Scarred Wasteland, and given that his condition now makes it next to impossible for him to work in the Plateau any longer, he has permanently relocated to the Wasteland.
The problem is his mouth. “Rabies” certainly can’t be the name he was given at birth, but it’s hardly any wonder how he’d gotten it more recently. It’s hard to tell if his affliction is due to some mundane sort of infection or something much more magical, but there is something bad happening with his mouth at all times. Dripping, drooling, frothing. Wisps of something like smoke or spores emanating in soft, drifting plumes. Sometimes, when he opens his mouth to speak–which is often–moths or spiders wander out of it, and sometimes, they also wander back in.
He never misses a beat, however. Visitors are welcomed (often after having first been greeted by Slough, which is rattling enough on its own), guests are settled into their spaces in the Hostel, those who are departing are prepared for their journeys, and every bit of it is neatly recorded.
This place may not see nearly the same amount of travel as anywhere he’d worked in the Plateau, but judging by the awful grin spread across his face at all times, he’s enjoying it.
