It is said that the Empire rose from the shadows of Wispwillow Grove a long time ago. A clan of veilspun departed from the depths of the forest and made their way into the Light. Burrowing into the sunlit cliffs above Lanternlea Port, they carved a fine, vast palace of white marble and warm, golden sandstone, crafting thousands of skylights from sea glass and tree sap until their future home collected sunlight and warmth like treasure to a trove. Within the walls of this grand palace, the Emperor and Empress have overseen centuries of lawmaking, built a thriving economy to match a thriving populace, increased their food stores to a point of endless surplus, and brought a wealth of knowledge to their people from the lands around them. Their reign has, largely, been considered a success. But their most crowning achievement, in their opinion, has been the successful raising of seven nests of hatchlings. The Emperor and Empress have always been fond of their children and have often indulged them; and though some of them have grown more distant from their parents over the years, the pair still observe them from a distance with a quiet sort of pride befitting of dragons of their station. All things, however, must eventually come to an end. Once their last nest is fully grown, the Emperor and Empress have declared that they intend to step down from their position and pass their crowns on to one of their offspring and whomever their mate may be. As no further details have been announced at this time, much of the Empire waits with a not terribly subtle sort of anticipation. The announcement in the coming months is sure to be met with much fanfare.
