The residents of the volcanic landscape stare up at the sky, gazing up at the cosmic event they will get to see plenty of in their lengthy lifetimes. Nonetheless, it is still an event to watch in awe and bewilderment. The astronomers association, headed by [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/93187997][color=0F5889]Starseer[/color][/url] and her co-lead, [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/39602019][color=0F5889]Ancient[/color][/url], are very closely observing and noting the phenomenon alongside the rest of their clanmates. While the Eclipse is coming to a close and the Moon is beginning to let the Sun’s light shine past once more, something different catches the Obelisks eye, something unexpected. A shooting star, a brilliant light with a peculiarly short tail behind it. In fact, it's getting bigger and bigger quite quickly. “Starseer?” The Bogsneak at her side asks, calm as always. The Arcane dragon looks at him, “Well isn't that interesting, Ancient? I think perhaps we should all head back inside.” “Agreed.” The Bogsneak quickly begins ushering the rest of the clan indoors as the comet rapidly approaches. It seems the dragons are resisting as the moon leaves its place in front of the sun, light coming back and creating a beautiful sight like that of a sunrise, but in the middle of the day. After all, they want to see the eclipse, and the meteor is pretty interesting too- Until it crushes them, that is. Quickly the astronomer clears her throat and shouts, “Everyone inside, the sun will be there tomorrow but you sure won't if you get crushed by a meteor!” That seems to get everyone's attention, dragons big and small fly into the various entry points of the clans lair, taking shelter beneath the layers and layers of igneous rocks. Starseer takes shelter herself until the large, earth shattering boom sounds. The coast should be clear, though caution will still be important. Being the first on sight is crucial- the meteor will still be super heated from the speed at which it has entered the atmosphere. “Everyone, stay here for a moment, please! I know you’re curious, but it could be dangerous.” Nodding to her colleague, Starseer quickly heads out to investigate the extra-terrestrial object, excited to study it and its contents once it cools. Stepping to the edge of the smoking crater the Obelisk notes that the asteroid has cracked and opened. More interestingly, however, there lies a small, scaled blob with strange yellow runes and glyphs surrounding it, orbiting like planets around their respective sun. It looks almost like a sleeping dragon, but the ambassador has certainly never seen anything like it before. The creature blinks open its eyes sluggishly as if awaking from a long, deep slumber, magenta eyes seemingly searching the skies, locking onto something flying overhead. Starseer looks up, a small group of Aethers soaring in the air and occasionally looking back at the ending eclipse. When the Obelisk looks back the strange thing from the meteor pulls the pieces of the shell together with a strange, unusual and spiked appendage, closing its rocky shell back around itself and hiding it from the prying eyes. For a moment the pair stands and waits, confused yet anticipating the next moments eagerly before being interrupted by a concerned voice. “Starseer, Ancient? What in Flamecaller’s name is going on?” The Arcane Ambassador turns around to face the Guardian leader. [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/38783278][color=0F5889]Storm[/color][/url] had been relaxing in her den, cherishing the silence the eclipse had brought as all the dragons of her clan sat outside to watch. Starseer can imagine she was quite shocked when they all had come rushing loudly back inside in a panic, followed by the explosion-level, earth shaking boom. “We were watching the eclipse when this meteor entered the atmosphere, coming our way. We had the others stay inside while we-” She is cut off when the leader points in shock. The Obelisk turns to see that the shell has fallen away, an Aether sitting in the strange creature's place. [i]An… Aether? Nonsense,[/i] Thinks Starseer. [i] That was no Aether! How did it shift its form like that?[/i] It flaps its moth-like wings and sort of hisses at the three observing it. A very strange creature indeed, and almost certainly originating from out of this world. It is small, likely still quite young, but feisty. Midnightstorm beats her massive wings, flying over the Obelisk and Bogsneak and hovering beside the foreign objects. “Careful- the rock will still be incredibly hot.” Ancient warns. The clans leader reaches into the rock and earns a nip from the frightened creature. Quickly she pulls away her claw with a gentle hiss before producing a fruit from a bag at her side and holding it out towards the Aether. The strange thing takes and devours the thing, calming down after receiving the tasty offering. Storm reaches in again and, while the Aether seems unhappy about being picked up, it allows it to happen, making strange chirps and clicks none of them have ever heard the Aethers make before. “What a strange Aether…” “It isn’t an Aether, actually-” Starseer begins and Storm looks back at her like she has three heads. “I think it’s an alien, disguising itself as an Aether.” The leader’s facial expression of confusion and concern for the ambassador's mental status does not falter. The Obelisk squirms under her gaze and looks away. The Guardian proceeds to fly the small Aether to the edge of the crater where the astronomers sit. “Aether or Alien, we will treat it as a normal hatchling. I’ll make sure it finds a nice place in the hatchery, and Starseer?” “Yes?” “Get some rest.” … Weeks after the eclipse, the creature from the meteorite has grown. Its fur swirls like the midnight skies, the golden, magical swirls still floating around the creature. Occasionally the Aether attempts to control the runes, moving the swirling yellow lines ever so slightly. It learned to speak to the dragons providing it with food and shelter, and began to enjoy its new home. While he isn't exactly sure how he got here, or why he was sleeping, he can feel as if he has forgotten something. He can feel as if he has forgotten [i]someone[/i]. The Aether- named [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/94183104][color=0F5889]Eclipticsky[/color][/url] by her new clan members- wanders around on occasion, as if searching for something. Staring up at the sky he had descended from, she watches, and she waits, though he isn't sure what he is watching or waiting for. Nobody is. Then, one day, it happens. Another meteorite shoots across the sky- in fact, it's an entire meteor shower. The creature disguised as an Aether bounces around, flying in circles, eagerly staring up at the sky, when its eyes lock onto one of the meteors. Something calls him to it, like a beacon, an unheard transmission only for his ears, his heart. Ecliptic follows the falling vessel, tracking down its landing location, heart pounding with anticipation. It hears noises from the crater and pulls away the rocky shell, the heat nothing to the beast. Inside sits a large, pale purple, amorphous blob of scales and limbs with golden trails orbiting its body, just like those around Ecliptic. The thing, about the first Aether’s size, makes a few strange noises, ones that Eclipticsky recognizes. The creature responds to the other, who stares at them intensely before its form begins to shift and shape, fur sprouting over top of scales, body growing in length and wings budding from its shoulder blades like flowers in the spring. The dragon chirps and sings in its native language, rubbing up against the other like a friendly cat. The first begins to speak to it in the tongue it was taught by the clan that had taken him in, teaching their partner the ways of those who care for him. As they begin their journey, together, back to the safety of Ecliptic’s new home near the Magma Sanctum they each look up towards the sky. The meteor shower is incredible. They know that each and every one carries one of their own.
