In the middle of your daily coliseum journey, you stumble across a new, bemused dragon staring at a map in his hands. Despite the warm, temperate climate of the forest, he was shivering and wrapped tightly in warm clothes.
You tapped him on the shoulder, and he whipped around with wide eyes. "Oh, hello! I suppose you've heard the news, then. Terrible thing, that is."
"Did you know them?"
"Ah, well, no, but I thought I could be of assistance!"
The wildclaw showed you his map, a hastily drawn rendition of Sornieth with several red circles across it. "You see, I'm an explorer, and I thought I could go searching for clues. Would you care to join me?"
Without much else to do, you nodded.
"Perfect! Oh, I forgot to introduce myself...Xot would laugh if she saw this...my name is Lumi! It's a pleasure to meet you, friend!"

"The murder happened here?"
"Well....that part is not as important. We're practicing for the REAL crime scene!"

After realizing Lumi was a terrible detective (I mean, he was the only wildclaw for miles! Who else would've left a wildclaw footprint?), you reluctantly join him for another round.
"Yes, hello! Everything we found yesterday was fascinating, no?"
You nodded, looking apprehensively at the wreckage before you. Reflexively, you reached out to a green snake for a snack, but Lumi nearly fell over himself trying to stop you.
"No, NO! That's a Watchful Viper! If anyone knows what happened, it would be this fella!"
You watched Lumi unsuccessfully attempt to communicate with the snake for the rest of the evening.

You try to keep up with Lumi's enthusiasm, but it's difficult when you both realize he forgot to bring a light.

You waited.
You waited.
And you waited some more at the head of the Boreal Woods. Lumi had met you at the same time for the past few days, but now, he was nowhere to be found. You decided to wait a few more minutes before packing it in, and you're glad you did.
"Hello?"
"Where've you been?"
"Oh, well, my wife invited me for tea, and then we started talking, and you know how I get when I get going--"
"Yeah, I do."
Lumi fiddled with his map and compass awkwardly, shifting his weight as he stared intently at the snow. "I hope you're not too cross with me," he finally said, ducking his head under his wing. "...I brought stickers?"
"Where are we going next...friend?"
Lumi's bright grin made the wait worth it, at least a little bit.

The Mire.
You’ve spent many a journey here, collecting knowledge with friends that have since left to serve the deities. It was peaceful, though, to not have to worry about battles and instead visit as a guest.
Lumi, however, had no experience with the venue, and you were enjoying—although slightly exasperated with—his inability to pick up on the local fauna’s tricks. So far, you had to keep him from a pack of swamp wolves, move him out of the way from stepping on a Molten Wartoad, and now….
“Look at this flower! Simply marvelous, no?”
“Lumi, that’s—that’s a toridae tail!”
So overall, the clue searching was a bust. But you enjoy yourself regardless.

Lumi sounded distant as he looked out over the wastelands around the Forbidden Portal. While neither of you had found a single clue, you had found something a bit more precious.
"I suppose this means goodbye," you replied, glancing at the map nearly covered in red pen.
Suddenly, Lumi smiled and met your eyes. "Not goodbye, no. Simply farewell. We'll meet again someday, won't we?"

I was going to do this, it looked really fun and great badges! But then I realised that some of the drops were scarce, which take AGES to rustle up, and that was only the first day... I dread to think what it'll get like by the later stages! So I backed out. I love scavenger hunts but I really need to spend my time training in the coli this week ^o^
(I'm starting to learn to keep at least 20 of everything on hand for these hunts, but as I've always just sold or eaten the cheap, useless drops, and grind mostly in the mid-level venues up to Mire, I tend not to have many of them lying around...)
