Hello Sir, I want to work online so please get me some work on this website. I will work online and I have very good experience.
It is a complete waste of time
It is a complete waste of time. The work is paid so poorly that you would not even reach minimum wage. The platform barely works, almost every project is full of bugs, and the support is a joke.
If there is any response at all, it’s usually just generic platitudes that make me question whether a human even wrote them, and then the ticket is immediately closed again.
Do not waste your time on this scam.
Disgraceful company
Disgraceful company, They showed a complete inability to effectively set up my account after 4 months of trying, I'm freeing myself from them, I'm deleting my account and asking them to delete all my data. I got sent emails saying there was a link on my account to submit something, I would check my account numerous times, there was never anything there, raise multiple tickets to explain there was no link, get no reply, then after 14 days of trying, get an email saying, you didn't submit it on time. Lol. I can find it funny, but am annoyed they wasted my time and am aware they are wasting a lot of people's time, it would seem from social media, who really need a job. They need investigating in my opinion. I can't imagine, all is well at APPEN or CROWDGEN. Mark my words.
⭐ Honest Review of My Experience With…
I normally do not write negative reviews about companies. When there is an issue, I prefer to contact the company directly and give them a chance to fix it. Unfortunately, this time my experience with Appen has been very different, and I believe many applicants may have faced the same problems. I want them to know they are not alone.
I applied for a project and completed all the required steps. However, instead of a smooth process, I experienced repeated mistakes and mixed signals from Appen:
They claimed my test results were incorrect, even though I completed the test five times with high scores.
They said my identity verification failed, and I repeated it three times successfully.
They mentioned my address was incorrect, yet there was no address verification step at all.
I received contradictory emails — one email saying I was selected, the next saying I was excluded.
I contacted support multiple times asking them to fix the inconsistencies and stop sending conflicting information.
Instead of resolving the errors, the same confusing cycle continued: unclear emails, mixed instructions, and even restricted access to my account.
The job itself is not the issue — things happen, projects end, requirements change. The real problem is the lack of clear communication, the system errors, and the feeling that no matter what you correct, the system pushes you out again.
I am sharing this review so that other applicants understand these issues are not their fault. I hope Appen improves their communication and verification processes, because currently, it causes unnecessary stress and frustration.
It is clearly exploiting its workers
This company is clearly exploiting its innocent workers. They have big-name clients like Microsoft and AWS, but the pay rates they offer their workers are a ridiculous joke. I am sure they ask their clients a high amount package for the work done by the innocent workers on their platform, but when it comes to compensating the same workers who literally run their business, it is a big joke. I am an Indian, and the pay rate they offered for most of their projects was $2 or less an hour. Man, that's called exploiting. That is ridiculously low, even by Indian standards. It involves working in front of a computer/ screen intensively; an hour doing that is very strenuous. Now, here, the middleman or the broker is taking all the pie, leaving just a tiny slice for the ones who are actually behind the work..
They are not reliable!
They are not reliable. Send a lot of tests that take much more time and complexity that they told you. And don`t pay you a penny. Their customer support doesn`t work
very good website i love this website.
APPEN SUPPORT STAFF ARE THIEVES
APPEN SUPPORT STAFF ARE THIEVES. I request for a payout and they asked me to submit documents which I did. After that my balance is missing an no where can be found and all my messages got ignored. Don't apply for this company. They will steal your hard earned money.
Unacceptable Delays and Misleading Verification Process
I am very disappointed with my experience with CrowdGen. I submitted all the required documents for ID verification, and while the website clearly states that the process takes 15 minutes to 2 business days, I have been waiting far beyond that with no resolution.
This is not the first time I have faced this issue. In the past, I had to delete a previous account because my verification was stuck for more than two months. Now the same problem is happening again.
What makes this worse is that other users who submitted the exact same type of documents were approved immediately, while my application is repeatedly delayed without explanation. Every time I contact support, I only receive automated responses or vague answers about “backlog,” with no clear timeline for resolution.
This is misleading and unprofessional. If you cannot process verifications in the promised time, you should stop advertising that you can. Right now, the process feels unfair, unreliable, and not transparent.
I am sharing my experience here because I want other people to be aware before investing their time. Unless CrowdGen takes action to resolve these delays and provide honest communication, I cannot recommend them to anyone.
Lurched from one disaster to the next
Pathetic company. I worked on Appens' major projects as a self-employed contractor with household-name businesses, initially through another company and had been doing so for many years. Then, unfortunately, in 2017/18, Appen purchased this business, and things immediately started to go downhill. We went from an organised workforce to a rudderless ship. They promised new projects, but these would come and go quickly or, in many cases, just never get off the ground. Their change to a new online platform was a disaster, project application processes were broken, and when you asked support for help, you either got ignored or they answered totally unrelated questions. Then in 2024, Appen somehow managed to lose 2 huge projects, 1 I had been on for over 11 years and another 6 years, promised to replace them with more projects, but their website is a ghost town these days, trying to farm you out to their Chinese division for pathetic rates of pay. There are no redeeming qualities to this company; management seems clueless, look at their share price over the last 5 years for proof. Destroyed the company I contracted to before they took over, and are not even a serious player in the AI workspace that most of us ex-contractors have moved on to since losing the bulk of their work at the end of 2024. Avoid and look to the other reputable AI training businesses.
Looking for remote work? Check elsewhere.
I have worked at Appen/Crowdgen for over 2 years at the time of writing this. To be short and simple, it's independent contract work that lets workers explore numerous online tasks that they can complete to receive compensation; there are sometimes physical, on-site tasks available which require online logging as well. Within the first year, I've enjoyed working towards accomplishing these objectives; the work can be tedious, but it was worth it for the decent pay. However, I have officially decided to give the site/work experience this rating for incompetence, inconsiderateness, and unfairness.
After graduating from college, I have been searching on the side for an actual job both locally and online for the past three-and-a-half years to earn better income and improve my work experience, but I have had no luck—just rejection letters or lack of updates. I've found Appen/Crowd Appen during this time, which I was happy to be a part of after being accepted into their platform and helped break me into remote work.
After the first year, working in the company has been a bumpy road, and it has only worsened overtime. In the dashboard where contractors can sign up for assignments, I have applied to many projects, but almost all of those have either not responded about updates, or they do reach back after months just to say that the project is either full or has been closed indefinitely. I literally have had over ten projects waiting for updates just to be either closed or never heard back from for months. Just recently, one of these projects, which I've been working on for almost a year and was receiving decent compensation, has just announced closure. This same project, which has been in an almost six-month long hiatus, has been emailing contractors for months saying that work will continue the month after again and again, just to ultimately reach back to us about their killing of the project–explaining the reason that "work data has reached its quota and therefore has decided to be completed and shut down." If this is the case, why not have let the contractors, who have been waiting patiently, know months prior instead of waiting?
I sit here writing this with a list of applications for other projects on the site's dashboard that have yet to hear back from, and I've received another email (a total of three so far) stating the closure of a project. I am working double time to find work in another field, and I will hopefully find another company that can have work available for its contractors or at least can inform them of updates and showcase competence and respect for its workers. I am done with Appen/Crowd Appen.
If you are looking for remote work, please continue searching elsewhere. You will only find yourself waiting and waiting like a fool just to be either abandoned or brushed off like they've forgotten that you joined the platform. I have learned recently that there are other independent contracting sites/companies who offer this type of work but have a more professional behavior towards its contractors.
WARNING – BE VERY CAREFUL!
I haven’t worked with them in months, but I just received what appears to be an unofficial/3rd-party email offering $5 per review in exchange for posting 4- or 5-star ratings about Appen/Crowdgen on various platforms (though the full list wasn’t included). The message came with a long-winded justification that I didn’t even bother to read. Interestingly, some of the recent reviews here suggest that a few people may have taken them up on the offer.
Great Company
Great Company. Great opportunities. Worked on a number of transcription services, for 3 consecutive years. Most of work is online and they pay each month on 10th or 11th day via Payoneer.
They never paid for my work and they don't care
$ 110. worked 3 whole days for them and they never cared to pay. Now they changed name and they care even less for the reclamations!
DISGUSTING
I've been working on the Ogden project…
I've been working on the Ogden project for two months. In the first month they said there was a delay in payments for those with PayPal accounts. In conclusion, the payment was delayed until this month. I continued working and now I haven't been paid for two months. The amount is available on the platform as ready for payment. But so far nothing! And nobody answers my emails.
Some competent body should close down this company. A real fraud.
Appen is a scam
Appen is a scam. A useless horrible fake jobs website. You spend hours studying their guidelines for jobs to qualify and then they never call you back! I managed to qualify for at least 5 jobs between march and April and nothing. I passed all the qualification process, but then at the last one (ID verification) it remained stuck for weeks, months. I wrote to them several times about it, they said not to worry, it might take time because there are a lot of people and the verification is manual. I kept waiting for the email invitations, but they never came. Then, I recently checked my Appen account and my Dashboard had been completely wiped out!!! All the jobs that I qualified for and those I was qualifying for (put an hold on them because I was tired), everything disappear from my dashboard! I wrote to them about it, they ask me what project I am talking about, as if anyone would take note about the details of all the projects. I assumed my your historic would be permanent, but apparently they can just go into your account and remove information or delete everything, then gaslight you into thinking you've never actually passed any of the tests in the first place!
It is a racist organization. I have had many people say that. Since the ID verification have been introduced, they are just a biggot organization.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS POS COMPANY!
No payment in sight
Since the introduction of CrowdGen in September, many things have been going wrong. A clear example: I worked on a project called Tulip in February — it’s now June, and I still haven’t received my payment. That’s four months of waiting.
For comparison: when I worked through Appen Connect, payments were always on time, often processed immediately. Unfortunately, with CrowdGen, things have gone downhill.
There’s a lack of transparency, poor communication, and extreme delays when it comes to payments. Projects get completed, but the earnings don’t arrive — and there’s no reliable information on when they will.
I really hope Appen improves this system soon. As it stands now, I cannot recommend CrowdGen to others.
All projects are dead ghosts
All projects are dead ghosts, you will give them all your rights only to be faced with nothing to do and no payment.
How is this company even surviving ?????
How is this company even surviving. It is a BIG SCAM. They make you do work, and then when the time comes to pay for your services. They ask you to pay a certain amount to register as an employee of the organisation. and for the release of the payment. Pathetic.
