Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers express widespread dissatisfaction with the platform's user experience, citing issues such as a constantly changing UI and layout that requires frequent resetting. People also report that the product is not reliable and very expensive, with coding errors and instability outweighing any potential productivity gains. Additionally, reviewers are unhappy about the pricing and subscription model, mentioning unexpected extra charges and confusing usage displays. Consumers feel that the AI models are scaled down and often fail, while the "Cursor-suggest" feature is considered poor. Some reviewers mention that the AI is not good for coding, and the IDE is slow.

Unpredictable billing, exhausted Ultra plan within hours – lost trust

I had a very poor experience with Cursor, specifically with their Ultra plan.

I upgraded to Ultra expecting predictable, transparent usage. Instead, my included usage was exhausted within just a few hours of what I consider normal development work. This behavior was unexpected and completely inconsistent with my past usage patterns and with reasonable expectations for a premium plan.

To rule out user error, I reproduced similar usage on another account and observed the same issue again. This raised serious concerns about the reliability of Cursor’s token accounting.

Support responses were largely generic and repeated the same explanations without clearly reconciling dashboard data or explaining how the usage could be legitimately consumed so quickly. After several exchanges, I lost confidence in the platform’s billing transparency.

I’ve since returned to an alternative tool that provides more predictable and trustworthy usage behavior.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Cursor to anyone who values clear billing, safeguards, and trust.

Annual Teams ‘seats’ are not transferable after any usage

We use Cursor Teams and the product itself is great, but I’m leaving this review because it is very unfriendly to normal employee turnover.

Although everything is marketed as “seats”, support confirmed that on the annual Teams plan a seat is treated as fully consumed for the entire year once it has any usage (credits) at any point during the term. If that employee later leaves, the remaining months are not refundable and not transferable, even if you remove the user from the team.

This is very different from how most SaaS “seats” are understood (a transferable license slot), and it makes annual Teams pricing hard to justify for businesses with normal employee turnover

Total scam. Do not subscribe.

Increase the price and no notification. No email no pop up. And remove the limit warning so that the user thought they might have more to use but then there's none and they'll have to pay on the go. What a genius idea. Student verification never worked. When you ask for customer support or manual check they just close the case. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Coding often goes wrong if we want to switch to another model mid way through a conversation as context are not shared. We never get half of what's advertised. This is such a scam.

I want to inform you that...

Dear reader,

I want to inform you about the scam behind this service.
The 'free trial' is running out faster than you think which is understandable, so they don't run out of money while ppl trying out their SW. At this point you have 2 choices, one is to wait until it "recharges", or by paying for a subscription.
I chose to pay, I used it for like half an hour, and I chose to cancel the subscription because this is not what I'm looking for (it cannot even solve a simple problem (tried multiple times and still not get what I wanted; comparison to chat solved it in 1 try, same prompt; it was a programming(php) issue)).
After the cancel, I write to the support for refunds (I did this for almost every ai service which I tried beyond the free version (most of the time the free versions are not showing what the tool is capable of, so I'm paying without issue), they refund me every time); the support email is just an air bot connected to it, so until you don't ask for a human, it will automatically answer your questions.
In the email the ai told me that I cannot get a refund because I'm not meeting the conditions (I don't know what the conditions are, because there is no public documentation which mentions this). I asked what either conditions are, and it's an absolute BS. There are 2 conditions, first is 14 days from the bought date, second is no usage on the subscription.
I talked with a human, but he told me the same. I asked where is the public documentation for it (there is none), so they coming up with excuses which makes no sense, so they don't need to pay you back.
They admitted that they don't have any public documentation related to the refund.
So overall it's a scam.

If you read this far, thanks and have a wonderful day!

P.S.: My English is not the best, so sorry for any typos, I hope it makes sense.

Non-existent support; refusal to assist with billing investigation

I experienced two unauthorized charges from this company. While I understand fraud happens, the customer service I received was unacceptable.

They ignore direct questions: I repeatedly asked if they could tell me the email address associated with the charges so I could verify if it was my own forgotten account or a stolen card. They ignored this question three separate times, offering only copy-paste responses about contacting my bank.

They are unresponsive: I had to follow up multiple times just to get a reply. There were weeks of silence between emails, and they only responded when I badgered them.

Unresolved: As of today, they have stopped responding entirely.

I wasn't even asking for a refund from them directly; I just wanted transparency to help resolve a security issue. They refused to help.

Predatory Billing & Refund Denied After Technical Errors

"I had a terrible experience with Cursor's billing system. Their system attempted to charge my card (ending in 6479) FOUR times unsuccessfully due to technical errors. When the payment finally went through for $20, I immediately requested a refund within the first hour as the subscription was accidental.

Despite my immediate request and the obvious system glitches, their support (Ralph) refused the refund, claiming 'usage'. This 'usage' was nothing more than me navigating the interface to understand why I was being charged repeatedly after multiple failures.

They are holding my money against my will for a service I don't want and haven't used for any work. Very disappointed in their lack of integrity and poor customer service. I will be filing a formal chargeback with my bank."
