Maps Overview

Overview
[edit]World of Tanks games are played on gaming locations named maps. Although each map is based off of a real-world locale (except certain special event maps), they are not replicas of any exact location. Maps vary in size, design, terrain, location, and weather. Each map, by virtue of having different terrain and structures, will encourage the use of different tactics in order to succeed.
With Update 1.23, "random events" were added as an optional feature to several maps (Himmelsdorf, Ruinberg, Prokhorovka, Safe Haven), which occur at specific times, significantly affecting extensive areas of the maps. This impact creates fresh pathways for vehicles, potentially obstructing existing ones, while also establishing new cover and firing positions.
World of Tanks maps are categorized into Summer, Winter and Desert Maps. A full list of categorized maps can be found here
For competitive World of Tanks, it needs to be distinguished between different game modes. Not all maps are available for all game modes.
Depending on the mode, different teams start the battle from different spawns. Various modes feature team-specific or neutral bases to be captured.
