I’ve probably needed to write this up for a while, but hopefully this will help make things a bit easier! I’ve noticed since the Submas resurgence I’ve gotten a lot of asks that I’d actually rather not have, so I’d like to make things a bit more clear on my end.

DO NOT PUT THE FOLLOWING THINGS IN MY INBOX ANYMORE. THANK YOU.

  • Please stop asking me to validate your headcanons. “Is so-and-so character autistic?” It’s not my place to tell you what you should believe - you get to decide that yourself. I did write a post making an argument about Ingo and Emmet being autistic, but that doesn’t make me qualified to diagnose every single character out there with something. I’m autistic, and I’m extremely similar to both Ingo and Emmet, so I laid out a case for them. That’s it.
  • Please do not have conversations with me via asks. If you want to chat, use the chat service on Tumblr.
  • Please be wary of being parasocial. Yes, I’m an adult woman in my 30s. No, that does not make me qualified to help or chime in on every single thing in your life - I can give basic advice on being an autistic adult and point you in the right direction, but I’m not capable of being your therapist, and I have a life off the internet that I actually enjoy engaging with (and a job) so I’m not going to constantly be around.

Things you can absolutely ask me:

  • History questions - it’s my job, after all!
  • Anything about trains - I’m always happy to talk about them, especially historical ones!
  • Can we see a photo of Murphy? Always.

Do you really drive steam locomotives?

  • I’ve done it once so far and I’m in the process of getting set up to volunteer at a heritage railroad closer to me so I can work my way up and be taught and get qualified in earnest. But the short answer is yes, I know the basics of how to drive a steam locomotive and can talk about that if you need to know how it works.
