“Sure. Of course, you can go. I’ll give your huge pile of work to the first person who can see me over their own. That seems fair, don’t you think?”
“Unfortunately, we need you out there. You’re our only healer/medic. You can go back to bed the second we’re finished, okay?”

This is my favorite episode of the whole show!! I watched it many times, repeating the part where he gets really bad, throws up, and Minato frantically calls his neighbors for help because he’s so scared. It’s a great episode. Love this whole anime.

Note: I had to cut the part just before where this video begins when Paul helps him handcuff himself to the bed because Tumblr sucks and only lets you upload 5 mins of video at one time. I really wanted to include it but the detox/withdrawal stuff was more important.
sick character shivering in bed as they’re overcome with a fever. delirious enough to start mumbling panicked words in a foreign language they dont usually speak. the only teammate who can understand them hears it, and replies softly in the same language. repeating gentle reassurance as they stroke their hair.
Whump/Angst things that are so not original but make me go crazy every time:
Caretaker finding sick Whumpee in the middle of the night, curled up on the bathroom floor…
Feverish. And. Incoherent. Whumpee. Who. Mumbles. Complete. Nonsense. In. Their. Sleep. (This one is the one)
Whumpee being carried while their head rests on Caretaker’s chest and their arm slumps down at their side.
Silent tears while being medically treated. They could be tears of relief/pain/fear… you choose.
Whumpee sobbing like a child in Caretaker’s warm arms after an awful nightmare…
…and Caretaker staying with them until they fall back asleep or, even better, bringing them to their own bed so Whumpee won’t be scared of being alone.
Days of silence until they finally break and tell everything to Caretaker.
“you’re burning up…”
“…Caretaker?” “I’m right here”
“it’s okay, it’s okay, I’ve got you”
“you didn’t do anything wrong”
“do you think you can keep some soup down?”
“please… stay” “of course”
“are you sure you’re ok? You look like you’re gonna pass out or puke… Or both”
Whumpees with aching eyes, too tired to keep open yet too sore to close, even the lightest pressure of their eyelids too much
Whumpee who’s too weak and dizzy to do anything at all but lie in bed completely still, sweating through their blankets only to immediately start shivering after clumsily throwing them off
Whumpees with dry mouths, dry lips
The corners of their room are more shadowy than they should be, and they’re too exhausted to bother to get up and see what’s in there. The Hat Man will have to just wait his turn.
Strong enough to get out of bed but being so, so out of it. Caretaker finding them standing swaying in a doorway, pale as death, clearly seeing something that isn’t there
Everything seems to be flickering. The air buzzes. Their skin prickles.
Getting to sleep is hard, because their mind is restless and racing. Once they’re asleep though, they’re down for the count
Chattering teeth. Their bones must be rattling, for how much they ache
• Somebody pressing a concerned hand to their forehead, then sucking in air through their teeth in sympathy.
• Colors looking hazy/brighter as their temperature spikes
•Teeth chattering around an oral thermometer until it flashes in an angry red
• “I told you, I’m fine.” ‘Well, should I believe you or the thermometer?’
• Feebly curling around a heating pad/hot water bottle just trying infuse some warmth into their bones
• A friend notices they look unwell. Friend goes in for a hug or places a hand on their shoulder as a casual display of affection, but also to sneakily gauge their temperature. Just as they suspected, they’re burning up.
• “I told you, I’m fine.”
‘Well, should I believe you or
the thermometer?’

a whump movie rec, especially for Sci-fi fans: Mickey 17. It’s like at least 30% whump. There’s a great poisoning scene in that one.
I rewatched it last week and since then I’ve had a hankering for good whump.
- do you have any recs for whumpy Sci-fi or fantasy movies? The whump itself doesn’t need to be magical or whatever, I’m just feeling an itch for stuff I’m Not Modern Earth.
- do you have any good gifs or examples of poison-related whump?
- also any good gifsets of dramatic hidden fever/illness discoveries would be much appreciated. (Collapsing especially appreciated but not mandatory.)

Omg Mickey17 was SO GOOD!!!! Holy crap the whump in the film was INSANE!!!!! I need to gif more of it. Cause I only did that one set and it was by far my favorite part but there was so much good whump to gif in it.
