The worst insurance company

This company operates through delay, unresponsiveness, and exploitation of legal loopholes. I accidentally purchased an add-on insurance policy from them and tried to cancel shortly after. However, it was impossible to reach anyone — I called every day and no one answered. When I finally managed to get through, I was told that cancellation was no longer possible because more than one week had passed. As a result, I was forced into a three-year contract.
During the contract period, I was repeatedly unable to log into my online account. Once the contract was signed, communication immediately stopped: phone calls went unanswered, emails disappeared without any response, and all issues were endlessly delayed.
They provide almost no meaningful service. There is no transparency, no accountability, and their so-called “customer service” is purely symbolic.
This completely violates the basic principles an insurance company should uphold. It strongly appears to be an operation that exploits consumers through institutional and legal loopholes. Highly unprofessional and deeply unethical. Please proceed with extreme caution.
This is the worst insurance company I have ever encountered. Rather than providing insurance, it feels like a predatory operation disguised behind legal paperwork. Their method is simple: endless delays, total silence, and constant avoidance of responsibility. When something goes wrong, you will never be able to reach anyone.

No proper customer care… centricity is far away.

Never being able to get through to them. We are all working professionals and try to get through the day.
But waiting for hours just to talk to a representative is beyond and above.
Assura needs to increase their staffing.
Plus, the app never works. There is never a bill or a document you can see.

Terrible, avoid this insurance

I changed my insurance after a very aggressive and almost lying sales process that got me. The lady presented me forecasts for my insurance price increase at Sanitas to lure me out and change my contacts to assura. After telling me that she would be there for me as a single point of contact I never heard from her again. They fined me with late payments because they used the money I wired to pay the next bill instead of the current one, resulting in a default of payment. Add to that a very poor customer service unavailable even after 30 min of waiting on the call service. Do not go with them, you will regret it.

Very bad company

Very bad company. I mean I came to Switzerland and opted to this as it was cost effective. We thought it will be minimum basic insurance but they have such a bad reputation among doctors that within a year we decided to change and then we discovered that there is a payment of 35 chf which you have to pay for 3 years minimum. WHAT A CHEAT!!! To make money and force people. These things confirm they are not effecient and not a good company. Please don’t take them.

Worst insurance company in Switzerland

Worst insurance company in Switzerland. Their business model runs around trying to scam foreigners. I never signed a contract with them but still I received invoices from them. In the end i needed lawyer to make them stop sending invoices. They give you the best price and then hook you in their scam even if you don't have contract with them.

I wish there was a zero star for Assura - complete charlatons.

I wish there was a zero star for Assura.

Even if it's often the cheapest insurance available, you definitely "get what you pay for" in other words, pay peanuts, you get peanuts.

I had been with them for YEARS but got frustrated with their payment/billing system - SO complicated, so this year, I switched to SWICA who were offering the same service at the same price. SWICA (for some unknown reason) did not cover me until 1st February 2025 (instead of 1st January as is normal). They said this was because Assura had not "released" me from their insurance (nonsense excuse).

Assura then sent me a note on 23rd January 2025 requesting payment for January PLUS a CHF30 late payment fee. They said they had "written" to me in January BUT via their website (Espace Client - why would I check if I was of the opinion that I was no longer insured with them?????). SNEAKY!

I wrote to them (sent recommande) immediately saying that I assumed I was no longer insured with them, as I had received no correspondence since November 2025 (when I cancelled my insurance with them), and my Assura Card had expired 31st December 2024.

Plus my doctor advised that I "delay" any doctor visits until my new card came through in February from SWICA.

On receiving my registered letter, Assura contacted me 1st May to advise that "it was SWICA's fault" for not insuring me from January 2025, and therefore I still had to pay the January premium from Assura. For absolutely NO service.

They advised that (as they're so kind and I was a long standing customer) that they would waive the CHF30 late payment fee.

Complete charlatons.

Appalled by the service of Assura after…

Appalled by the service of Assura after a conseiller came to my home and dishonestly signed me up to an insurance that I told him clearly I didnt want. I stupidly didn't read the statement before signing as I didn't expect him to have added an accident insurance that I had no need for (as I'm covered by employers). Turns out he added one that I'm tied into for 3 years!! Assura refuse to take it off and despite my contacting this man over 10 times, he ignores all my emails. Do NOT allow these insurance people into your home, they get commission for each insurance you sign and this man in particular has been incredibly dishonest. The man in question is Mr Jill (surname removed for legal reasons) & he is an employee of Assura. Avoid at all costs.

They lied to me about our coverage

They lied to me about our coverage. It turned out our maternity ward was not covered by Assura, although most other providers do cover it, and although the salesperson at Assura guaranteed us we had nothing to worry about. They refused to cancel the plan afterwards, so that now we are double-insured, paying Assura 500CHF per month for absolutely nothing. An utterly worthless and lying company, NEVER CHOOSE ASSURA.

DO NOT TAKE THIS INSURANCE!

DO NOT TAKE THIS INSURANCE!

This is the cheapest insurance in Switzerland, but the service and customer support are absolutely terrible.

To contact them, you must call a non-free number. The wait times are so long that you can easily spend CHF 10 just trying to get through. While they have an app, you cannot contact them through it—although they do send messages via the app. There is no email address available for customer inquiries either. Additionally, they do not provide support in English.

Other insurance providers in Switzerland offer far better services, including English-speaking support, multiple contact options, and better accessibility. The price difference is minimal—maybe CHF 20—but the quality of service is incomparable.

Not to choose this provider

I took an appointment with Assura to stipulate my new insurance offer. We made an appointment by phone for last Friday at 7.30 pm. I rushed home and I deleted all the appointment because of that. Nobody came at that time, nobody called me. Nothing!

Really bad bad bad company. I didn’t even call them back, since I would never put my health in their hands!!!

doesn't remove accident insurance

On the phone they told me how to remove the accident insurance, so I sent the documents as asked, nothing happened. Called again, sent again, still nothing. I've been working 40 hours a week since July 2024. I'll change to another one as soon as possible. Stay away from them.
