We're not like other gyms... We won’t tie you into a contract or charge you a fortune every month. That’s because we believe that fitness should be accessible to everybody, regardless of shape, size, fitness level, background or attitude. We’re for everyone who’s had enough of the unbelievably-expensive-monthly-contract gym, or the make-me-feel-judged-the-moment-I-walk-through-the-door gym. Affordable, high-spec, nationwide gyms, that make absolutely everybody feel welcome. Whatever your starting point, and wherever you want to go, we can help.

Lamar Williams is brilliant
Lamar Williams is brilliant.
Been a regular at this gym since it has opened, and recently had signed up for some PT sessions with Lamar to work on some technique cues. He is knowledgeable, supportive, friendly and driven in helping me achieve my goals, would highly recommend.
The gym itself is clean and well equipped, with friendly staff too.
This is by far the worst gym experience I have ever had.
I have been paying for an Ultimate membership for the past few months, which includes 4 guest passes per month. Sounds good on paper but in reality, it’s a complete joke. The guest pass codes constantly do not work. I invited friends multiple times, only for them to be refused entry because the system failed. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and a total waste of everyone’s time. What exactly am I paying for?
The condition of the building is even worse. Every time it rains, the gym leaks like a broken roof warehouse. There are colourful buckets scattered everywhere to collect dripping water, it honestly looks ridiculous and completely unprofessional. This is not what you expect from a gym charging premium membership fees.
To make matters worse, the gym is frequently temporarily closed because of these leaking issues. As a paying member, it is unacceptable to arrive ready to train only to find the place shut due to ongoing maintenance problems that clearly have not been properly fixed.
For the amount of money charged for an Ultimate membership, the service and facility standards are shockingly poor. Basic systems don’t work, the building is not properly maintained, and members are left disappointed again and again.
I strongly advise anyone thinking of joining this Doncaster The gym to think very carefully before signing up. Save your time, save your money, and avoid the frustration.
You pay, they don't give you the service.
They charge you, so happily one week after they suddenly cancel your subscription. But hey, they keep the money.
Reasonable adjustments and disability support
Im an OT and have supported an individual to access the gym group. The staff here have been nothing but supportive, making reasonable adjustments and being great humans. Ive seen how they interactive with disabled people and its truly wonderful to see.
This session will help my gentleman access health and the community, it really will change his life.
Thank you so much, the gym group are lucky to have you. Big shout out to Georgia and Emily
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
When I signed up for my membership, the manager recommended a free 1-month trial of the YANGA flavoured water subscription. He said it could be cancelled anytime, so I agreed to try it.
After tasting the water once, I cancelled immediately. Honestly, it was awful — very chemical taste with a terrible, unpleasant aftertaste.
A month later, I discovered that I had still been charged for the next month, even though I had definitely cancelled the subscription.
I contacted customer support, but they told me they couldn’t do anything and refused to refund me.
Very disappointing customer service.
If you’re planning to join The Gym Group, I STRONGLY recommend NOT signing up for the Yanga water subscription.
I FEEL THIS IS DECEPTIVE AND DISHONEST TOWARDS CUSTOMERS.
Honestly
Honestly, I’m annoyed I even signed up. For the prices they’re charging, this place is ridiculously small. It’s cramped, stuffy and feels like they’ve tried to squeeze every machine possible into a space the size of a bedroom. It’s uncomfortable the second you walk in and absolutely not worth the money.
The layout is so thoughtless it’s actually frustrating. Everything’s crammed together and randomly placed. Some parts feel weirdly performative too — like certain “booty/glutes” machines positioned right opposite the free weights — which just creates an awkward, over-sexualised vibe instead of a normal, safe space to work out. Most people just want to train, not feel self-conscious.
The staff experience hasn’t helped either. Some come across rude or unapproachable, and I watched a cleaner hover around and bother a woman on the treadmill for ages while she was clearly trying to work out. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional to witness.
There’s barely any visible sanitation equipment, which is honestly concerning. I’ve already been feeling unwell since joining, so that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence about cleanliness.
Add in unanswered emails and no direct contact for the branch, and it just feels careless. For the cost and the location, this is really disappointing. We’ve gone without a gym here before — if this is the standard, it’s not an upgrade.
Right now, I genuinely wouldn’t recommend it.

Personal Trainer Experience
"I started working with Aaron as a complete beginner, feeling pretty lost in the gym. He’s been instrumental in building my foundation and technique from the ground up. Thanks to his coaching, I now feel 100% confident managing my workouts independently. Aaron doesn’t just show you what to do; he teaches you how to do it right. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to gain real gym confidence!"
very bad service !!!
Good experience
Once inside, you get a very good experience. Lots of variation of machines to use as well as free weights. Staff members are always around to help, without being too obvious. Very good value for money.

I can only base my 5stars on the Midsummer Norton GYM 🏋️♀️.unfortunately i was only in the area for 5days and got a 5day pass which was good value..but it was excellent the Amount of equipment available and the Dumbbell area was very big never short of a bench and the venue itself was so clean around the GYM area and also the shower/Toilet facilities.
Amazing staff especially from Michael
Went to the gym this morning and only had 30 mins . One of the staff Michael motivated me and took me through a whole session. I have learned so much today. Very helpful and welcoming person and it really made my morning. Shout out Michael thanks for being so lovely
Very good
Very good, I love this gym, very organized and clean, the equipment is very well updated, 100/100

Friendly gym staff nice a and big in size loads of machine could do with some more actual weights upstairs
Disgusting customer service, horrible fees.
Unacceptable - I was charged with a 15 pound admin fee for a payment bouncing despite no issues with my bank or it being insufficient.
I’ll be cancelling my membership and looking elsewhere as it’s ludicrous
BAD MANAGEMENT
Pros: Great location and solid equipment
Cons: Toilets are disgusting! several closures a month without any notification or email. Not enough plates. Clearly management doesn't give AF about members
Good range of equipment
Good range of equipment, however, membership has been cancelled and moved gym's, due to it always full of clearly under 16s, who have lied about their age.
Proof of age should be required when signing up. As an adult I want to use a gym which doesn't feel like being at school.
There just isn’t enough equipment to go around
There just isn’t enough equipment to cope with peak times. Having 103 people in the gym and one leg extension machine is poor.
I am going to have to go elsewhere after being here since it opened :( I spend half my work out waiting to get on things and feeling stressed.
The staff are lovely and proactive, but are up against it with equipment vs numbers and January joiners.
Someone has gone down Central Park…
Someone has gone down Central Park Avenue putting The Gym Group leaflets under everyone's windscreen wipers. This is dangerous and you have no right to touch people's cars.
The Gym Group on London Oxford Street…
The Gym Group on London Oxford Street is a dump that closes for “circumstances beyond our control” all the time. Members are not refunded for the days the gym is closed. It’s rundown and unclean when it is open, the toilets and bins are always overflowing, and they’ve had the audacity to increase the fee as well.
