I’m a single mom who saves for a long time to take my son on special vacations. Unfortunately, this stay ended in a way that caused unnecessary stress and completely overshadowed our trip.

Our flight was at midnight and checkout was at 10 a.m. Late checkout was only offered until 2 p.m. for $50, which didn’t work for us, so I paid for an entire additional night. I expected a smooth and stress free departure.

Communication was terrible from the start. I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes, and no one ever told me that my key would stop working or that I needed to get a new one.

After leaving for a couple of hours, my son and I came back to pack, eat, and get ready for our 5 p.m. shuttle. Our key did not work. We were locked out in freezing temperatures with food, luggage to pack, and a shuttle we could not miss.

I had to call multiple times, and it took over 30 minutes for someone to arrive and let us in. The stress this caused, especially with a child, was completely unnecessary.

On top of this, the unit itself had multiple issues. It was extremely cold inside, and even with the heat and fireplace on, it never warmed up. There was a very loud, constant noise in the room, possibly from the heater, that made it nearly impossible to sleep. The unit also smelled musty and stale, and brown tinted water came out of the sink, which was very concerning.

Despite these issues being clearly unacceptable, Summit Cove refused to accommodate us in any way. I wasn’t asking for a full refund. Just some acknowledgment or care. The manager wouldn’t even speak to me.

Keystone is wonderful. Summit Cove is not. I would never stay with them again. Even some of their own workers said it’s the worst company they’ve worked for, which sadly matched my experience.

BUYER BEWARE

I'm not one to write bad reviews. In fact, in most cases I try to take the high road and if I find something unsatisfactory I simply don't write a review at all. This case is an exception, however, because of how bad it was, how false and misleading the ad was, and how the problem was ignored and never resolved by SummitCove's negligent and incompetent management team.

In dire need of a staycation, I found this property on VRBO. Judging by the misleading photos posted on VRBO, the property promised to be clean, peaceful and inviting, but as it turned out nothing could be further from the truth. The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on a piece of granite. The peaceful, lagoon-like pool area and hot tub that was advertised in the photos obviously has no time limits for the users and there were no less that three dozen people using them at any given time, most of whom were screaming children. And while most properties try to observe some social distancing standards or ask their guests to be courteous and sensitive to the spread of COVID, this is clearly not a concern to the folks at SummitCove. Such a blatant lack of regard for guests' safety and well being makes me wonder how careless they may also be when it comes to sanitizing their rooms. We were hoping for a bit of peace and quiet when the mobs of screaming kids left the pool and hot tub around 10pm, but then the noise started in the hallways and persisted throughout the night. The noise was so unbearable and bed was so uncomfortable, we were compelled to pack our bags at 2am and drive home.

I tried to reason with the management at SummitCove, but was essentially ignored. I was told by management it was my fault for not assuming the bed could be hard as slab of stone, as if mattresses filled with lumpy rocks is an industry standard for overpriced rooms such as this. I was told by management they have no control over the number of people who use their pool and hot tub at one time, even though their written disclosures imply otherwise, as do their acknowledgments of social distancing requirements due to COVID. I was told by management that being compelled to leave at 2am was my fault because it was up to me to call security and complain about the noise problem, as if it's the guests' job to patrol their hallways for noisy guests. Their resolution to this problem was a measly $25 refund, which, by the way, I never received, so even that offering turned out to be as bogus as the VRBO ad they have posted.

BUYER BEWARE: If you made the mistake I made judging this property by its misleading photos and information provided in their ad you're going to be sorely disappointed. If you're looking for an outrageously noisy property with an uncomfortable bed that's harder than a rock and a room that has all the trappings of a college frat dorm then this is your place! If you're looking for something pristine and peaceful with a comfortable bed then I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

We don't manage the whole building, including the pool area and other properties and don't have control over what happens there, though it is to be expected that guests (especially children) will be out enjoying the pool. We do apologize that it wasn't what you were expecting. If you are looking for a quieter place, we have some options that may be better suited for that, outside of the main village. We have passed along the feedback about the mattress to the homeowner and will recommend an upgrade, but we don't feel that the listing is misleading. Next time, please call us real-time to let us know about the late-night noise; we'd be happy to call security for you. Since we weren't made aware of any of your issues until after you had checked out, we never had the chance to try to make things right for you. We are always available to help 24 hours a day when our guests need it, we are just a phone call away. Thank you.

We were able to find a great condo to rent in Keystone via SummitCove and upon arrival check-in was easy (and safe). The staff was very responsive to questions we had during our stay and the text feature was preferred for me to communicate with them! Our condo was well equipped, clean and a joy to stay in. Excellent location with the perfect…

Excellent location with the perfect condo!!! Cant wait to come back next year when all of the inside condo amenities are open (hooefully). Summit cove was amazing to work with, always prompt with responses and helped us when our flights were cancelled. :)

Good, BUT…

Overall, the home was fine. There was plenty of space and it was well equipped. HOWEVER, the smoke alarm (located on the ceiling above a stairwell, 30 feet in the air, went off on the first night. It was reported the next morning and we were told that it would be fixed. It went off the next night (at night, of course, not during the afternoon when we could have called it in). It was reported again and was fixed this time. HOWEVER, spending two night listening to beep, beep, beep was unsatisfactory.

Summit Cove was awesome as usual

Summit Cove was awesome as usual. They are always so helpful and accommodating. We have used them for years and will continue to do so.

I would reconsider Mountain View Rentals for your rental needs. The guy working the evening of 1/14/21, that checked us in, was extremely rude and acted like we owed him a favor for his services. The people there when we returned our equipment were much better to deal with and friendly.

Our experience with SummitCove Lodging…

Our experience with SummitCove Lodging was excellent as always. When we wanted to change our condo unit before our trip, they helped make it happen. When we had a maintenance issue with the bed in our unit, they got it fixed. And when we needed a late check-out, they were able to accommodate us. This was our 4th year staying with SummitCove Lodging and we will continue to do so.

The reservation process was smooth once…

The reservation process was smooth once I called to check into the Repeated Customer discount. And they were great at getting my parking pass early before my condo was ready so that I could use the bus system to get to slopes. The condo was great as usual. I did not some food stuck on some of the plates that should have been caught if they had been return to the cabinets from the dishwasher. And check out was quick and easy.
