Long time Tasker who wants the platform to improve
I have been using Airtasker for years and it has been my main source of income, which is exactly why I am writing this review so honestly. I genuinely want the platform to improve for both Taskers and clients.
One of the biggest issues is the growing number of users who submit very low bids and then outsource the work offshore for extremely cheap rates. This distorts the market and creates unrealistic expectations for job posters about what quality work should cost. As a local professional, it becomes very difficult to compete without accepting pay that simply does not cover real living expenses.
This is a daily challenge. Many clients who eventually hire me openly share that they already lost money after accepting cheaper bids, only to discover the work was secretly outsourced. I often find myself needing to emphasise that I am a native English speaker based locally just to build trust, which is uncomfortable and should not be necessary.
While Airtasker offers ID verification, the system feels incomplete. It is too easy to obtain a blue badge without clear identity transparency. Many users do not use real photos, portfolios often appear to showcase work they did not personally complete, and some bidders use edited or misleading review screenshots. Spam style bidding is also very common, making it harder for genuine professionals to stand out.
Another challenge is that the platform does little to help set realistic expectations for job posters, which makes it harder for freelancers to deliver satisfaction even when they are skilled and professional. Considering the fees Airtasker collects from both sides, it would be reassuring to see more investment going into platform quality, verification, and user experience rather than primarily broad advertising.
I have also tried to customise my notifications using keywords, yet I still regularly receive alerts for unrelated physical tasks like furniture assembly or TV installation, even after contacting support multiple times.
I truly value Airtasker and the opportunities it has given me, and I hope these concerns are taken seriously so the platform can better support genuine professionals and deliver better outcomes for everyone.
Love deal with you
Love deal with you , the service was great accurate an well done , Love to do business again
Really poor platform
Really poor platform. I was communicating with a tradesman and then it became impossible to continue to communicate once he’d changed the offer (at my request, not his fault). Must be a bug. Now I’m stuck and unable to speak to him about the offer. Off to Checkatrade instead.
Bad design of website
Bad design of website. Can’t copy the text from client’s description of job. For example, client post the link of goods for information. But we can’t copy the link and paste to browser for review. It is silly website design.
Fees are way too high. Support is extremely poor…
Ive used Airtasker fully generation and filling the gaps over the last eight years and the commissions are way too high on the end of the person doing the job
The cancellation fee is also extremely unfair.
Airtasker support through zendesk is non-existent
it takes weeks to get a response oh while Airtasker is making 60 million in profit.
When the app started it was very good user-friendly with great support and is now just extremely average average
Too scared to use again
One great experience, the next was dreadful. Airtasker still holding $10,000 of my money for shoddy, incomplete work claiming to have sent six people when they sent three. They were scammers and Airtasker needs to vet these people. Too scared to go se them again
Wonderful app
Wonderful app! I just moved into a flat in a new area and needed a lot of things done like taking things to the tip, putting together flat packed furniture etc.Found reliable, quality people.

The app is excellent and very easy to use. The platform is well designed and user-friendly, and overall I had a good experience.
However, I feel the service fees are quite high. Sometimes it feels like the platform earns a large portion compared to the person actually doing the work.
We spend time, gas, travel, and deal directly with customers, and in the end we may only receive around $80 out of $100 while the platform takes about $20.
I believe lowering the percentage would make it more fair and motivate more taskers to stay on the platform.

It is good I don't have alot bad to say…
It is good I don't have alot bad to say about it, though I wish you would be more certain on pay details for workers such as myself 3-5 days is a very big window especially when people bare trying to support there families ect if payments from task done, need to maybe send a msg to task workers payee's with more detail on when to expect payment for job. And not being able to send last names is a abut of a joke it shows trust to the task advertiser that your not hiding behind a fake name.
Other than those 2 things happy either the app ect
It is a great platform to connect…
It is a great platform to connect people who need to get something done with people who can help. The review system allows to check out a tasker before assigning the task. I had very positive experiences every time I have used Airtasker
While it’s a good platform fees are high
While it’s a good platform, but the fees are very high. Taking fees from both sides is not fair.

Hi “They are doing well
Hi “They are doing well; however, it’s essential that clients provide clear and accurate information so we can review the details properly and accept the jobs accordingly.”
Airtasker Australia - honest review
App is heavily geared towards profit and commission. Customer support will always make a ruling in favour of Airtasker making money or the customer, leaving trade’s out of pocket as well as paying cancellation fees so that Airtasker still makes money.
