I recently tried Fotor for their batch editing feature with AI tools, and it turned into a complete nightmare. I signed up and paid for the Pro plan thinking it would cover what I needed, but right after, when I went back to actually use it, the app forced me to upgrade to the Pro+ plan for the same features. It felt like classic bait-and-switch tactics.
Frustrated, I immediately contacted customer service – this was literally 5 minutes after paying, and I hadn't even used the subscription at all. I politely asked for a refund, explaining the situation. Their response? A flat-out denial with some generic excuses about policy. No empathy, no resolution, just stonewalling.
This company is straight-up scammers preying on users with misleading plans and zero accountability. Save your money and time – go elsewhere for photo editing. Fotor doesn't deserve a single star!

This company is a scam. Shady business tactics. You sign up for the free trial of the application, but you can’t use the features you need without upgrading your subscription. When you upgrade, they lock you into a full-year membership and charge your card immediately.

The website itself is well built and did exactly what I needed for a one-off school project. However, I was required to pay for a yearly subscription, and auto-renewal is enabled by default. This is only mentioned in the terms and conditions, with no reminder communication sent before renewal.
By the time I noticed the charge, it was already past their very strict no-refund policy. I reached out politely to ask whether a goodwill gesture was possible given the circumstances, but received only an automated response reiterating the policy.
While the product works, the customer support experience was disappointing. Many competing services offer equally functional websites with more transparent billing practices and more responsive customer support.

Fotor has one of the worst customer support I have ever experienced in my entire life. DO NOT press the start a free trial button and follow the prompt to select a plan to continue. They wont honor the free trial and charge right away. There is a huge error in this process. In general do not ever need anything from there customer support team. They suck and don't care about you. Its mostly automated, good luck with it. Also the system runs very slowly,the slider bars to control edits get stuck.

Horrible service, I did try the free service and the quality was not there. It wouldn’t let me cancel the subscription which now I use paid for. After providing to them proof tha is was there issue, they still refused to refund me.
Fotor "steals" your credit because they "expired!"
Yesterday I found that Fotor claimed that over 5,600 credits had expired. No notification, no explanation. It appears that if I do not use last months credits then they just take them back.
How is this not stealing from you?
For those of you who have tried to get a refund and failed, I would call your bank and do a charge-back.
I sent "Christine" an mail to cancel all my charges but there is still one coming up in six weeks. I called my bank and said no charges from Fotor are allowed.

Charging my card even though I’ve never had their service. Refused to credit me back despite evidence I’ve never had their service. When I sent them all the proof and evidence the said we don’t provide refunds. I recommend avoiding them!
Be careful
Be careful, the subscription process is not clear. The options with the subscribtion are still very poor. The assistant is quite rough, generates rather primitive pictures. As much as I tryed to explain in detail, it was impossible to achieve a result, and all unsuccessful attempts (without a single change on the photo) spend the credits that expire and you have to pay again. Very sorry I spent money on it.
Watch out for auto renew!
I tried their photo app about a year ago, but liked Canva much better. However, I had forgotten that I had also signed up with Paypal and it was set to auto renew. Needless to say, they charged me again even though I never used it past the first day I had it. Found basically there policy is, too bad, you should have turned it off. They would not give a refund. It was my own fault, but most decent companies are good about doing this if you ask within a week of the auto renew, never mind the same day. Just for others to be aware.

Fotor isn't my main photo editor, but I use it regularly to create frames, add text to my photos, or make fun creations using AI. There are many other features that I don't use, but I know they exist and may be interested in them someday. I'm glad this unique editor exists, I think it's reasonably priced, and I've had some good experiences with customer service, where Christine responded quickly to resolve my issues. In short, I'm a very satisfied customer so far.

I’m impressed with Fotor after using it for a few weeks. The clean, intuitive interface makes designing graphics, editing images, and using AI features remarkably easy. I particularly value the speed at which I can cut out backgrounds, enhance photos, and create ready-to-post social media layouts
Charging for no service year after cancellation
They started charging me again 2 years after I canceled my subscription. The cant "find" the charge which is hitting my credit card. Went back a year and found they charged it a year earlier. The are zero help, just keep charging meand there is nothing I can do. Totally shady peice of crap company, dont use them! Go somewhere reputable!

I gave one star because no stars isn't possible. I signed up for a free trial which I cancelled on my iPhone with 2 days to spare. I was then charged because I'd signed up online (rather than via my phone). They refuse to refund me, in spite of my showing them a screen grab of my cancellation.

Unfortunately my bank details have been cloned and I’ve had multiple products taken out which I’m now having to resolve.
I onlt knew FOTOR was one of them once the 34.99 had left my account and upon reaching out to them they said there was nothing they can do as refunds are not within their t&c’s.
‘Christine’ comes back with robotic repetitive responses each time, you can imagine this is making an already very stressful situation so much worse.
I would recommend steering clear of this company and looking into an alternative because if you need any support, their customer service is nonexistent.

Falsely and wrongful charges on the last day of the trial period. Highly recommend all users be vigilant and stay away from this unlawful photo-editing provider. Let your friends stay alert of this online provider. Don't purchase its services if other honest online image-editing providers are available for choosing!!
