Written by the company

Little Learners is a multi award-winning children’s activity provider which offers educational messy play classes for babies to preschoolers. It was created and founded by a qualified primary teacher who designed an innovative mark making programme following the journey of four fun characters – ‘The Mark Makers‘. Children focus on one character each week at Little Learners messy play classes. Messy play, painting, play dough, scribbling, dance and more are used to encourage children to mark make and learn early writing skills through play. Classes, parties and events are offered and Little Learners also undertake work in schools and early years settings. At Little Learners your child will be encouraged to use hands, fingers, feet and toes to make marks which will help to strengthen their core muscles and develop their gross and fine motor skills. These skills are vital for holding and controlling a pencil and letter and number formation when they reach school age. Our aim is to make writing fun and encourage every child to MAKE THEIR MARK!

My son absolutely loves little learners…

My son absolutely loves little learners or messy club as he calls it. We only started going this year and are gutted we will be stopping for him going to nursery in September. He’s learnt some great skills and we’ve had to buy some of his favourite activities for his spot tray at home. Claire our host is so lovely and caring makes it all the more special.

Outstanding! Outstanding! Outstanding!

This group is exactly what we have been looking for! We were lucky enough to start our Little Learners journey before lockdown happened and we were so pleased to be able to take part in their most recent session with all of the covid measures in place. What can I say, I was so impressed with the careful thought and attention to detail that they have clearly put in to every aspect of ensuring that sessions run smoothly and safely. The sessions are run by absolute professionals who have a clear understanding of how to enable children to develop their mark making skills in a fun and engaging way. I thought it was brilliant that even with all of the covid measures in place, the children were still able to explore and be creative. I would really recommend that any new mams give this group a try as it is the perfect place to meet other mams and their babies! Thanks Little Learners!

I have gone with my son since he was 6 months old and due to lockdown we haven’t been but bought a tuff tray and had a go at home myself. Went to the first session since lockdown and i 100% felt comfortable with the system in place, hand washing song is fab! Overall just a wonderful class and excellent for children’s development. Couldn’t recommend enough my son loves it.

Great Classes, 100% Recommend

Excellent idea and the classes are ran so professionally!

I took my little boy to many LL classes and he always loved them, it also taught him how to make marks relevant for his development much earlier than a lot of other kids his age.

100% recommend.

Fun & Educational

I first took my son to Rachels classes when he was around 2 years old and we attended a fair few sessions. Rachel is extremely enthusiastic and professional and is great at keeping children engaged. I recommend it for all new mothers, it's a great activity to do together and your child will be learning through messy play without even knowing it!

Don't hesitate to go!

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her classes at little learners from the initial group play to the individual floor play. Interacting with children and getting to explore new materials and ways of writing that I couldn't possibly provide at home. She starts school this year and she is more than ready, she is confident in her mark making and has been writing her name since she joined at the age of 2!

Fantastic early years group

My little boy has been going to little learners since he was 5 months old, he is now 18 months old and absolutely loves it. He gets excited as soon as he sees his t-shirt and is now getting good at his mark making and pencil grip.

Little Learners is FANTASTIC!

My little girl has been going to Little Learners in Gateshead since she was 6 months....both at Chowdene Children's Centre and Gateshead Leisure Centre. She's now 2 and a half and still loves it! Each activity can be adapted as your child grows and develops which is brilliant......I also love that there's an educational element too. My little girl is writing letters and can just about manage her name which I put down to mark-making from such an early stage. Emma is amazing.....she makes each class unique and loads of fun so you get to do different things each week. I cannot recommend this class highly enough! 5 stars!

We love little learners!

We first attended little learners in the park last summer and had great fun getting messy even though it rained the whole morning. The girls enthusiasm definitely wasn't dampened down. We signed up after that and now go every week. My 1yr old loves getting messy and she has recently started using tools to make marks not just to eat the paint and other materials. It's great to see her progression and hear the feedback from her nursery about how's she's using her mark making skills there now too. My daughter loves Jenna who is very friendly and makes the classes so fun. She really is a great teacher making time to chat to everyone. Jenna accommodates my daughters dietary requirements and provides "safe" stuff for her to explore. We even had a "little learners birthday party" our friends who had never been to a class before had great things to say about the fun they had. We recommend little learners North Tyneside to all our friends. Thanks Jenna!

The best class by far, fun, messy and educational!!!!

I can't rate this class enough. We have gone from the first day the class launched in our area and my little boy just loves it. The team are fabulous, caring and dedicated to ensuring the babies and children have fun, get messy in the process and learn all at the same time. So pleased to be lucky enough to have them. Xx

Excellent

I go to the Gateshead leisure centre with my daughter. I travel out of my way to get to this class, I live in Houghton-le-spring but started with Emma's class in low fell and then changed to Gateshead. Emma is a brilliant lesson lead and a lovely person. My little girl loves her and the classes. I purposely do not work Saturdays so I can take her and see her develop in the lessons. Keep up the good work.

Excellent, highly recommended!!

Little learners is a brilliant class for children, they learn basic writing skills without even realising they are doing it as it's all done in play and while having fun! My little boy has attended class since he was about 6 months old and he's now nearly 3, he has always absolutely loved going to class and still now is so excited to go! He had developed a brilliant basis for "mark making" and has made brilliant friends along the way! I would highly recommend little learners to anyone!!
