Warning! Rip Off

Warning!! They rip you off on exchange rates.
I made a purchase in Euros on a card which can accept Euro refunds.
The proposed refund was already substantially lower than the VAT paid, due to fees. However when this reduced amount came through, rather than refunding in Euros they converted to Sterling at an absolutely appalling rate. They used an exchange rate of over €1.26 to £1, so my refund in Sterling was much lower.
You can actually do these refunds yourself without these ridiculous fees and rip off currency conversion rates.

I am not able to take my payment back…

The tax free refund was eventually…

The tax free refund was eventually processed and confirmed as paid.

However, the overall experience was confusing due to the lack of transparency in the process.
Although the refund had already been issued, there was no clear notification or tracking information provided, which made it difficult to verify whether the refund was successful.

It was only after contacting customer support again that I received the RRN (refund reference number), which allowed me to confirm the transaction with my bank.

The refund itself was completed, but clearer communication and better status visibility would greatly improve the customer experience.

I did receive the refund in the end, but the experience was frustrating. There were no proactive updates that the payment was on the way—only after I contacted support did they check and respond. If a refund is marked as processed/paid in their system, customers should automatically get a clear notification (email/app) with the payment date and reference. This shouldn’t require chasing.
