Review of Bromley Plumbers Ltd

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great guys

I’ve been using Bromley Plumbers at my café for over a year now and they’ve been nothing short of fantastic. Over that time I’ve had several of their team come in to work on different jobs and every single one of them has been professional, friendly, and highly skilled. It’s rare to find a company where the standard is consistently excellent across the whole team but Bromley Plumbers really delivers.

Special shout out to Jake (and the other Jake) who have both done outstanding work for me, from fitting the entire plumbing system for my coffee bar to refitting a new macerator and installing taps. Everything was done efficiently, to a high standard, and with great attention to detail.

They’ve been reliable, quick to respond when I’ve needed them, and always a pleasure to deal with. I recommend them to anyone and everyone I can, whether it’s a big installation or a quick fix, you can trust them to get it done professionally.

Review of Growth Accountants

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

While others may have had better experiences, mine was defined by missed expectations, unclear communication, and a disappointing lack of professional accountability.

My experience with Growth Accountants Ltd over an 11-month period was deeply unsatisfactory. I was initially offered a discounted service and was led to believe the firm would provide tailored, communicative support as my business grew. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

From the beginning, communication was inconsistent. I often had to chase for responses and was not kept informed about what work was being done or what was required from me. At one point, due to delays, I was given a free month of service. I was also encouraged to post positive reviews before any significant service had been delivered, which I found premature and inappropriate.

When it came time for my first VAT filing, it was handled at the last minute, placing undue pressure on me to review and submit missing information quickly. Despite making it clear that I was unfamiliar with these processes, I was not guided through them properly.

One of my biggest concerns was the lack of access to my Profit & Loss statements. I asked for this information multiple times and only at the very end was I told that it would cost extra, though this was never made clear to me beforehand.

Toward the end of our engagement, after expressing dissatisfaction and suggesting I might look elsewhere, my account was abruptly terminated—without formal notice or written confirmation. I later discovered that my accounting data in QuickBooks was missing two months of entries.

Attempts by my new accountant to obtain professional clearance were refused, allegedly because of this review and a separate Google review. I was also informed that the company planned to sue me—via a message sent to my new accountant before they told me directly, which I consider wholly unprofessional.

In their public response to my review, Growth Accountants included my full name, business name, business address, and links to my other review accounts. I believe this to be an excessive and targeted disclosure of personal data.

While others may have had better experiences, mine was defined by missed expectations, unclear communication, and a disappointing lack of professional accountability.

We take all feedback and comments from former clients seriously as this helps us to reflect and improve on our service.

We always aim to offer clear communication and proactive support. In your case, we booked multiple meetings to go through your Profit & Loss, all of which were missed by you without notice.

We also provided several goodwill gestures, such as when you realised you had not cancelled your previous payroll contract, we gifted you a month of free service to help you with your cashflow.

Your first VAT return was filed on time, despite complications caused by an incorrect VAT registration address (which you did). We did our best to resolve this for you swiftly, and importantly, we met the deadline and kept you compliant.

There were situations when you would send queries to the team on a Friday evening and insist that if they weren't answered before Monday morning, your business would suffer. The team sought to accomodate these requests, all within the same fixed cost for you.

Regarding service scope, your contract included a clear and detailed service table, which we referred you to when additional monthly services were requested. We pride ourselves on proactive, clear and transpararent pricing - that's why we provide such a large print list of the services that have been selected, along with services that have not been purchased and the associated pricing.

Your requests went significantly beyond the agreed scope, and we offered options to add services transparently and fairly.

Unfortunately, the way our team was spoken to became unacceptable. While we understand running a business can be stressful and this can cause frustration, we cannot accept abusive behaviour towards staff.

After discussing our concerns internally, we took the highly rare, but necessary step of disengaging from acting further on your behalf.

We believe any perceived “missing work” is a misunderstanding. Your VAT returns were submitted with your approval, shortly before the relationship ended.

We wish you the best in future, but we stand by our decision to prioritise the wellbeing of our team and disengaging from acting for you.
