Review of GPW Recruitment

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A thoroughly positive experience from beginning to end

All in all, I had an extremely positive experience while working for GPW Recruitment.

I applied for a job on a job site, the same day I got a phone call from a consultant, who went into detail about the role and what it entails.
The role sounded ideal for me, so they arranged and sent me for an interview at the company.
The following day, I was offered the role, and started working.

Each week without fail, my wages were paid on time and accurate. I never once had an issue with this in all the time I worked for them. They were always extremely efficient.

If ever I did have any queries, they were dealt with in a timely manner. The consultants were extremely helpful and also treated me with respect.

When I got taken on permanently with the company, the particular consultant who dealt with me all throughout, congratulated me, and gave me a few kind words of encouragement. It was really nice to know that I was appreciated.

In the Recruitment world, this is a rarity, and I feel that a huge majority of recruiters out there could learn a lot from these people- particularly how to treat and speak to candidates.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this recruitment agency for somebody who is looking for work.
An absolute gem of an agency.

A big shout out to all the staff there in GPW St. Helens- you’re absolute diamonds!

Review of Gi Group

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

These used to be a very good agency…

G.I Group used to be a very good agency when I last worked for them doing a driving job 3 1/2 years ago, but have gone downhill.

I attended an induction at a company on Friday 9th Jan, for a start on the Monday morning, and was more than happy with what I’d seen on the walkaround.
I was looking forward to starting work once again, particularly after my redundancy.

Now, before I go any further, I would like to just say that everybody’s personal circumstances family wise are different. No two peoples are the same, but these goons didn’t seem to comprehend this in any way shape or form when I explained to them the below.

My elderly father aged 83 unfortunately collapsed very early hours Saturday morning, so I was in hospital over weekend with him.
However, this particular consultant kept bombarding me with WhatsApp messages asking me to complete the Yoti link.
Even when I explained to her where I was and why, and I will do it asap, she still bombarded me.

I’m now my Dad’s sole carer. Because he was still weak and ill, I had to make sure he was okay and comfortable before I left him to go to work in good time on the Monday morning.

It’s difficult juggling your own family life, work to pay your bills, feed mouths, as well as caring for an elderly parent.
Particularly when you’re the only one who does all the work.

I called the female consultant who was bombarding me with WhatsApp messages, explaining that I’m running slightly behind because of heavy traffic, and that I’m not far away, and I’ll be a little late.

I also told her because I’m more than happy to stay behind to make it up, or come in for an extra hour or two in the mornings. It’s no problem.
In my mind, I was compromising by offering to do this.

The response I got from the consultant was surprising to say the least.
Instead of listening, she snapped at me that the agency “only want reliable people and not to bother turning in!” before hastily putting the phone down on me.

Who on earth does this stuck up bit of fluff think she is?

Not too long after I got an abrupt text message from her saying ”You’re a waste of time so we’re not going to put you on any future assignments with us as you’re unreliable!”

How can I be unreliable if I’ve made the effort to get up and ready for work really early, care for my Dad, and drive to workplace?

I called her to try and resolve this, but she wouldn’t answer the phone at all. Pure cowardice.
Instead, on my third attempt of calling, the branch manager answered and gave me a volley of abuse.

Among things he said were “you knew all of this was going to happen so shouldn’t have took on the job, it’s not our heads it’s your problem!!!!”
Ok, so I’m a mind reader now am I? If I was psychic, and knew this was going to happen, I’d have also put the lottery on.

I gave as good as I got though. I won't tolerate being spoken to, or treated in this appalling manner by anyone.
I hope one day that these slimeball, so-called Recruitment consultants experience a taste of their own medicine when one of their parents or immediate family fall ill, and they try and cope.

This horrible experience reinforces my mistrust with nearly all agencies. They are parasitic low lives, who have no empathy or consideration.

There are only a small minority of employment agencies out there that I have dealt with and would recommend to others.

To anyone that is even considering any roles with these planks, just don’t bother because they will treat you like something you’ve trodden in.
