After the Idol Awards, Mira catches Rumi sleeping on the couch one morning. It's highly unusual for the super early riser. Rumi plays it off by saying she came out for a snack, ate at the couch and fell asleep before she could return to her room. Believable enough however, Mira proceeds to catch Rumi 3 more times in the span of a week and a half. On the 4th time, it's in the middle of the night.

When she sits on the couch, Rumi wakes up and is caught dead to rights. There's no wiggling out of a true explanation now. Mira asks her "why are you really sleeping on the couch?" Cause she's noticed the lack of any food/wrappers on the coffee table each time she tries to use the midnight craving excuse.

Rumi admits that shes been having trouble sleeping since the awards. They may have all talked and made up, but it hasnt fixed everything. There're still some residual tension between them even if they all try to ignore it. The only thing that seems to help Rumi sleep is when she's closer to her girls. Cause at least out here she can hear Zoey softly snore, or when Mira gets up to go to the bathroom. It reminds her that they're here and they're safe. That they didn't actually leave her, and Rumi didn't lose them due to her secrecy.

Mira is upset by this cause Rumi could just ask to sleep in either of their rooms, but she knows Rumi is still not great at accepting/asking for the care she so desperately wants.

Mira gets up off the couch and takes Rumi's hands to pull her up "come on" she threads their fingers together and drags Rumi to her own room. When in bed, Mira is the big spoon and holds Rumi close. They dont talk and quickly fall asleep.

The next day the three of them are on the couch watching TV and when Mira decides to call it a night she gets up, "I'm going to bed, Rumi you coming?" She casually tosses over her shoulder as she already starts toward her room. It takes a beat for Rumi to get up too, and then Mira calls out from the hallway "Zoey you too!"

Zoey bounces up off the couch, excited about their apparent sleepover. The three get into bed, Rumi in the middle. They start to cuddle and eventually Rumi starts to cry. Zoey notices first and is instantly worried. "Rumi what's wrong?"

Rumi takes a while to express that she's just overwhelmed. The tears are more happy than sad (though still from a pain within her) she tells Zoey about how shes had trouble sleeping and Zoey cuts her off with an open invitation to her bed whenever Rumi needs. Mira echoes the invitation and Rumi buries herself further into the comfort of her girls. (She never sleeps alone on the couch again.)

I need the kind of polytrix angst where they’re all really stressed because of an upcoming concert or smt and one of them (it can be literally any) starts getting into a bad headspace and go to their girlfriends for help. But the other two don’t exactly notice right away and so those feelings fester until it becomes a whole thing.


Like with Rumi, maybe she starts feeling like her patterns are ugly, and she doesn’t want to directly ask if the others hate them so she asks if she looks good or smt like that. Since they have a show in like idk 2 minutes Mira and Zoey are more stressed then normal and don’t realize that the love of their life isn’t asking if she looks stage ready, but she’s asking if her entire existence is ok. They hurriedly say that her makeup looks great or her hair is perfect ect. but they don’t say anything about her patterns which just makes her worry more because why won’t they tell her that she’s allowed to exist? zoey is the first one to pick up on something being wrong but she doesn’t know how to ask. (idk where to go from here but it ends in a night filled with cuddles and kisses or more)


Or Zoey starts feeling like she’s too much and not enough. And she’s been trying really really hard to do the right thing and talk to her girlfriends when this happens. So obviously she looks for Mira and finds her in the gym at the punching bag (mira has a bad day because of something her parents did). As Zoey approaches she calls out for Mira who responds with a harsher than normal (but not like fully harsh if ykwim) “what.” And Zoey loses the very little confidence she had to ask for reassurance so she asks mira if she wants to go get boba instead. When Mira says “not right now zoey. I want some time alone” Zoey decides to find her other girlfriend. However she doesn’t have much luck with Rumi either because when she finally finds Rumi, she’s in the home office doing work. Zoey timidly knocks and barely gets any acknowledgment so she decides to walk in and lean over rumi resting her head on Rumi’s shoulder. Rumi greets her with a small peck on the lips and a hi before turning back to her work. Zoey can’t stay still for that long and Rumi turns to her to ask “Could you give me a few minutes to finish this contract? The executives have been on me about getting this done and it’s hard to concentrate with you here.” Zoey leaves and goes to her room.

When Mira comes back from the gym she makes a beeline for Zoey’s room to apologize, but she gets stoped by Rumi who’s also making her way to Zoey’s room. They talk quickly and realize that they both ignored her and they feel extremely disappointed in themselves for not being better. It’s Mira who knocks gently on zoey’s door and asks if they can come it. But it’s Rumi who practically runs to Zoey’s side once they walk in and see her curled up on her bed. They apologize profusely and the three of them cuddle for the rest of the day after helping ease Zoey’s worries.


For Mira I feel like she’d have a panic attack triggered by something that someone says that they don’t think would cause a reaction. Like there was this one story (that i’ll have to find) where Zoey jokingly said “i’m breaking up with you” over something really small, i think it was who was allowed to cook or who was meant to braid rumi’s hair that day. and it just sent Mira into a spiral and the others didn’t notice right away, but when they did the three of them sat down to talk about what was ok and what wasn’t.


Idk there’s just something about those type of angst fics where it’s the girls inadvertently causing the pain of the person who they love more than anything. They’re so wrapped up in their own feelings that they don’t see how a third of their heart is breaking. I think it’s the fact that it feels very realistic compared to some of the other angst fics (which I still love).
