For this absolutely stunning album (and cover) is why I fell in love with dark ambient music. One of my favourites (and firsts) dark ambient album I heard in my life. I've been searching it all of my life (even without know).

So much to love here, from delightfully creepy samples of throat singing and birdcalls, to suffocating synth atmospheres evoking thick roaring drifts of white snow that blind and deafen the listener and seem to mute the entire world, to delicately shimmering visions that are probably too beautiful to be real, to breaking through thin ice and seeing as the frigid water drags you down a lovely and terrifying goddess in the form of a whale with long, flowing black hair.

If you are a usual player of The Long Dark or The Hunter Call of the Wild in the Medved Taiga reserve, you will probably understand why I like these five winter themed albums so much.
If you also have a special place in your heart for The Wendigo by Algernon Blackwood... same thing.
Very ominous themes which translate very well the dangerous isolation and cold of winter.
