In 2012, I released Falcon-106's first album, "Beat Air Force."

I felt like I had exhausted all the sounds I wanted to make under the name "KOMABA" in my previous album, so I quit playing guitar and singing and decided to start over with instrumental techno.

Until then, I had been making songs using MIDI connections to a hardware synth on an Akai MPC2000XL, but for this album I switched to a DAW.

That said, most of the synth sounds are recordings of hardware synths, and when I listen to it now, it sounds a little rough, but it has momentum and there is no hesitation.

I created the album by importing punchy synth drums from the KORG MS-10, synth bass from the YAMAHA V50, and sounds from the MOOG PRODIGY into my hard drive.

For some reason, I was obsessed with games like "Ace Combat" and "Afterburner" around that time, so I named the album after a fighter plane.

Although I stopped playing guitar and singing with this album, it's a memorable one for me because it was the album that led me to embark on the path of instrumental techno.

2012年にFalcon-106の1stアルバム「Beat Air Force」をリリースしました。
前作の「KOMABA」名義で作りたい音は全部出し尽くした気がしたので、ギターと歌をやめてインストルメンタル・テクノで再出発することにしました。

それまではAKAIのMPC2000XLに、ハードウェア・シンセをMIDI接続して曲を作っていましたが、本作からDAWに乗り換えました。

とは言っても鳴ってるシンセの音は殆どハードウェアのシンセを録音した音で、今聴くと少し大雑把な感じに聴こえますが、勢いはありますし、迷いがないです。

KORG MS-10によるパンチのあるシンセ・ドラムや、YAMAHA V50のシンセ・ベースやMOOG PRODIGYの音色などをハードディスクに取り込んで制作しました。

それと何故かこの時期、「エースコンバット」や「アフターバーナー」などのゲームに熱中していたため、戦闘機をコンセプトにしたアルバム名にしました。

このアルバムでギターと歌をやめましたが、インストルメンタル・テクノの道に進むきっかけになったアルバムなので思い出深いです。
