does anyone have suggestions on how to stop ripping nails off as a stim?
hopefully something that matches the feeling of actually ripping the nail off not just something to keep your hands busy.
she/her, autistic, aroace, anxious 🫘

any other autistics or sensory sensitive folks get glasses and feel like they were getting stabbed by a bunch of little needles where their glasses touched their nose?
no? just me?
cool, cool
scared that all their friends will leave you once they start dating and you’ll be alone forever because you don’t feel romantic attraction?
Shout-out to the autistics who crave hugs. Shout-out to the autistics whose love language is touch.
And shout-out to the autistics who were denied a timely diagnosis because a misinformed professional thought you were "too affectionate" to be autistic.
You aren't any less autistic because of how you show affection. And you aren't nearly as rare as pop culture and outdated research would imply.
Idk it seems like a weird case of the symptom helping cause the cause? Like once you've been rebuffed for wanting touch enough it can kind of become more painful to try because of the possible blowback. At that point you just become completely against touch because you're worried it won't be appreciated & you'll embarrass yourself? Idk maybe this is just me lol someone brought it up recently and I'm still embarrassed about it.
oh my gosh
ME TOO!!!
i was incredibly affectionate as a young child but some time during elementary i got so subconscious of touch, about the same time classmates were telling me that touch couldn’t be platonic
lucky i’m been getting better about it
any other autistic aros out there??
