I found it aggressive and unhelpful, particularly discussions when you express a minority opinion. I posted a polite, kind and sensitive opinion on a thread discussing a sensitive topic, but disagreeing with the majority. It was deleted by mumsnet. There was absolutely nothing rude, illegal, upsetting or offensive towards anyone or any group in my post and it did not contain any offensive words. Despite what they will claim, it was censored.

Quickly responded to a report of a post. Helping keeping mumsnet friendly!

Mumsnet (or Angry Birds as my husband calls it) has been part of my life since being pregnant with my first baby, who’s now 12. I don’t know what I’d have done without it to turn to when I was a new mum. And I still use it now my children are bigger. If I need to find out about something related to parenting I’ll quite often just google that thing with the word ‘Mumsnet’, and I know it will take me to a mine of useful stuff.
As with any social media site - there can be threads that turn feral, and there can be fake posters who undermine the ‘good faith’ aspect of the community, but I have found the moderators to be swift, intelligent, warm and pragmatic. The majority of users are kindly and helpful.
From a nuts and bolts point of view, adding reaction buttons has been a very positive development.
In summary, I’m so grateful that Mumsnet exists, and grateful to the founders for steering the good ship MN with wisdom and integrity through some very dicey times.
It has been a portal for so many laughs, so much support, the source of so much vital information - I can honestly say my life has been changed for the better in a number of ways because of what it has enabled.
So, five stars, would recommend.

Full of useful advice, good laughs, supportive posters and one of the few places in the last decade where you could discuss women's rights without getting banned or piled on.

There are little niggles but considering I only use the free version I think it's really good. Just wish it had been around when I was younger, it would've made life so much easier.

I’m satisfied with this, although I think Mumsnet could’ve been swifter.
And I must note that this man was truly vile.
I’ve had comments deleted for far less.
I don’t know what this man was after, but I hope he receives a lifetime ban.

I have been on Mumsnet roughly five years and love the wide subject matter.
I now consider myself a Mumsnetter and I'm a male and learnt so much from the female perspective.

I’ve been a member of Mumsnet for many years and, overall, I find it a great site. I’ve learnt so much during my time from other posters and have often found the discussions insightful and supportive. AIBU can be tough at times, but the moderators are generally quick to step in and deal with posts that break the guidelines.

Maga mums with nothing better to do

Some lovely people but some horrible ones to who enjoy being spiteful to others especially those on benefits, boys/men, anyone not British and little done about it.

Awful place came on ere for support and advice and had couple of people hating on me but also a person who claims to be a benefits advicer mocking me and my partner for claiming benefits and on disability benefits and judging what im asking for advice on then turning it on me saying I threated her when thats not true awful please I would advise anybody not to use this site for advice if u claim benefits

Terrible. Moderation lacks consistency, transparency and objectivity.

I don't report posts often, but today's was egregious and they zapped it immediately. I think they do an amazing job at their goal of light-handed moderation and the site is just wonderful.

I posted as I was feeling very low. Having lost my Mum, Dad and Sister it hits you sometimes unexpectedly. The kindness towards me from strangers was something I'll never forget. Thank you and to Mumsnet.

I log in every day and pick and choose what appeals. A couple of times I've pointed stuff out to 'Admin' that might need looking at and the response has been speedy and fair. Well done!

I’ve come to believe that MN are posting to create their own controversies for clicks. Either that, or they have special rules for certain unpleasant posters who can be seen to have been deleted or moderated 3+ times in a day but are never banned or even suspended, while others are permanently disappeared by mods for no given reason or a completely illogical one.

They’ve admitted in the past to creating threads and posting themselves, so it stands to reason that the posters being deleted constantly but never banned are just internal people doing their jobs of creating engagement.

I'm in my 17th year of Mumsnetting - it's part of my daily life. I don't wear Boden, however. The hive mind has helped me through some very difficult times and some trivial issues, has honed my thinking on many serious matters, is almost as witty as it's exasperating, and teaches me something every day.

I think Mumsnet's infamous humour has been stymied by an influx of intolerant users, most of whom seem rather thick. The site's user-led moderation works well on the whole, but does make it vulnerable to angry people reporting everything they dislike for deletion. MN's unique in having a predominantly female membership with strong opinions and a relatively high level of education. Some people find this hard to stomach!

As MNers frequently remind newcomers, the internet's heaving with places you can go for soothing validation. If this is what you're looking for, go find it. But if you want to learn something, stick around.

Mumsnet has been my go to forum for many years. Long may it last! You can find a lot of wisdom and honest reviews in threads by users. As in life you find there are plenty of users you won't agree with, but such is life.

Long term user, well moderated and useful site

This website is predominantly frequented by bored wealthy women who express sneering, negative opinions about refugees, asylum seekers, benefit recipients, and all but the most perfect parents. Teachers and nurses, in particular, should avoid visiting this site, as repeated exposure to exaggerated complaints about minor classroom issues or the state of the NHS can be detrimental to mental wellbeing. There are constant arguments about the importance of private education and woe betide anyone who falls on hard times, because they will be told they should never have had children. Essentially, it is a nest of vipers with a small minority of kind commenters.
