These new aerial vehicles have been tested on each of the available parent platforms.

To test run

ign launch cloudsim_sim.ign worldName:=simple_cave_01 circuit:=cave robotName1:=X1 robotConfig1:=EXPLORER_R2_SENSOR_CONFIG_1 robotName2:=X2 robotConfig2:=COSTAR_SHAFTER_SENSOR_CONFIG_1 marsupial1:=X1:X2

replacing the parent and child models as desired.

There's a noticeable gap for me when I run the marsupials with the base robot being X1 or EXPLORER_X1 (pictures below). If it helps at all, I'm seeing the following output when running my ign launch command:

[Err] [SceneManager.cc:465] Unable to find file [materials/textures/DronePlatformX1_Roughness.jpg]
[Err] [SystemPaths.cc:444] Could not resolve file [materials/textures/DronePlatformX1_Albedo.jpg]
[Err] [SceneManager.cc:498] Unable to find file [materials/textures/DronePlatformX1_Albedo.jpg]
[Err] [SystemPaths.cc:444] Could not resolve file [materials/textures/DronePlatformX1_Normal.jpg]
[Err] [SceneManager.cc:509] Unable to find file [materials/textures/DronePlatformX1_Normal.jpg]

Is this gap okay, or does it need to be fixed?

There should be a platform. The image below is what I see:

Do you have the droneplatformx1 model in your Fuel directory?

I was able to spawn CERBERUS_RMF and COSTAR_SHAFTER drones on EXPLORER robots.

also tested with changes in gazebosim/gz-sim#575 and I can see the drone platform on explorer x1.
