Turning point,

Having dabbled with electronic music production on and off for a couple of decades and not getting to where i wanted too, almost every YouTube video demonstrated inside Ableton, the day had came where i got to the point where it was either a Greenhouse or new PC with Ableton, but, the thought of learning a new DAW gave me the fear of losing creativity.

So i spoke to a producer i know who gave me advice where i was to look at subSine Academy's range of options.

Then thought F*** It - booked myself in for a weekend intenisivce course - Ableton Live Creator, then said to myself if i dont come out with some sort of tune by the finish its a Greenhouse.

Then realised i had treble booked myself, checked the terms and conditions - easily found and got in touch to re schedule - first impressions with the customer service was great, no faff just honesty and transparency. Got my date rescheduled !

During the wait period i did reach out for advice and i was also informed well on what to expect.

However, what is written to what i happened is night and day, anyone who is wanting to learn Ableton for any style of music this is for you.

I did not buy a Greenhouse.

The new journey has started, however more focussed and with purpose. Simon is a great teacher , the class atmosphere is relaxed and freindly. There were seven of us, at the end of the two days we had all been shown Ableton but all created something unique.

Amongst this we also learned about Studio set ups, Modular synthesis, hardware / software.

Well worth the investment.

I recently attended the 10 week Artist course at Subsine Academy, instructed By Simon Stokes.

This was the best decision I've made so far in my short time producing electronic music.

The course was amazing, I've gained so much knowledge and tricks which has helped my production so much.

I learned a lot from each week, the tasks we got set helped push me further to make and finish tracks.

The main feeling form the course is that you're in an environment with like minded people who are working towards the same goal while being guided by a top class instructor.

My opinion would be to take this course or others that they have to offer as you won't be disappointed.

Not only are you instructed by a top class music producer and artist, your classmates will be highly talented and creative individuals that will inspire your creativity to another level. This course is structured in an informal and enjoyable environment with plenty of scope to tailor your learning to your musical style. I can’t recommend this highly enough.

Fantastic team, Simon was great giving me all the information before hand. Robert Etherson & David Donaldson were amazing and I learnt a lot from them.

I have been producing and DJing for many years and I was keen to learn some new tricks within my mixdowns.

It was all very professional and I'm going back to do another course.

Recently completed weekend Creator Course and would definitely recommend! Simon is a great teacher and creates a welcoming and friendly environment I felt comfortable sharing questions and ideas in.

You also get loads of additional resources to take away and do additional work with after the course!

Simon is a pleasure to work with and the way in which he teaches will ensure your competence in producing increases very quickly. The course I was recently on everyone on the course has made tracks almost ready to be released on labels within the space of 10 sessions. Will definitely be back for the next level course

I have just completed the Creator course and am delighted! Been mucking about with Abelton for over a year and this has hyper warped my creations to another level. Simon and Co at SubSine are super knowledgable and make the courses really enjoyable. I've done the 1 ableton centred course and another mixing 1. The information, pace, tutors and content were incredible. Highly recommended, will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed the weekly evening classes. Simon was great at explaining how to get started and further develop your Ableton Live skills in a clear, simple and accessible manner and he lends an ear to help out with any questions you might have for your own project. Lessons took place in a relaxed, productive and informal environment, you are given objective pieces of information as well as certain tips and suggestions but are also encouraged to go and develop your own personal way of working with the DAW in your own time through experimentation and trial and error.

It's hard to choose what I enjoyed the most about subSine Academy's Artist course. Apart from improving my production skills, I left feeling so inspired. I've always made music in a somewhat conceptual way, and have in the past felt that these kinds of approaches are not really encouraged in mainstream electronic music, but Simon's Artist course really expanded the boundaries of what I thought was possible in terms of coming up with ideas for tracks.

Even though Ableton offers infinite possibilities, I find this can be at times overwhelming, so approaching music in a more conceptual way can provide a great framework to be creative. I would 100% recommend everyone getting into music production to take this course!! There's no better person to learn from than Simon :)

What a place. Simon Stokes has curated a really special learning hub for music makers. Both courses I have taken have been top notch, especially the Mixing course with Robert Etherson.

So why is coming to Subsine Academy a great idea?,Firstly the class is brilliant.Even as a total beginner (as i was) ,or if you have some experience.Your going to get invaluable help and knowledge from the best in the field.
More than this though,your going to have the pleasure of spending a few weeks in the company of the Brilliant Simon Stokes(aka Petrichor/Soma records).Simon is just so warm and friendly,clearly brilliant at what he does and that passion he has is infectious to the point where i only got finished on my Creator course and if i was able right away i would have signed on for the next course.It,s that much fun to go.Even after a day of work and then driving in heavy traffic to get there ...it is still the place to go👍

It’s no wonder people travel from all over to study at SubSine academy as the knowledge given from Simon and his team is priceless. I started learning with the beginners online course in 2020 and went on to complete the Producer, Mixdown & Mastering and Artist course after see how much each of them were helping my productions.

Each mentor teaches in a way that’s easy to learn and they are always offering extra help if needed which you can’t get anywhere else.

SubSine studios is a very laid back and friendly environment to be in and perfect for learning your craft from the best in the business and I got to connect and learn with some really amazing Artists in each class.

Highly recommended and always something new to learn at any level.

I did not even know how to make a kick drum on Ableton until I started learning with Simon at subSine and now I can arrange a track full of different musical elements all within 2 months!

After being hesitant due to having no musical background whatsoever I am so glad to have made the decision to join the beginners course. Simon explains everything so clearly and makes the learning process seem so easy.

I recently completed the Ableton Creator course at Subsine Academy. It was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Simon was incredibly supportive throughout and explained the various topics so well. The the flow of the course and depth of information taught was perfectly pitched. My confidence grew rapidly on the course and I was amazed at how my knowledge and ability had developed over the 10 weeks! Can’t recommend it enough!

Just finished up the 10 week version of this course and all I can say was it was amazing. Ableton seemed such a large and complex piece of software to me, but Simon's great way of breaking down and explaining each part made picking it up so easy. I'd always thought about doing a course like this, but never wanted to part with my money in case it wasn't useful, but I'm so glad I did. The amount of knowledge I have now is unbelievable and I feel like I'm now ready to be able to release the music I only dreamt of making before. The classes are small which means you have plenty of time for one-on-one tuition which can specialise to the type of music you want to make, and you never feel like you're being left behind. Just completed the Ableton Live: Producer course over a weekend. It was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Simon is a great tutor, knows Ableton inside out and I was blown away by the stuff he taught us that I knew little about about. I came away inspired, with a lot of ideas and a great set of notes from the course. I couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Having spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials and attempting to make things in Ableton to no fruition, the Creator course helped me produce a decent track from start to finish. I've learnt a lot more than I expected over 10 weeks, and truly felt part of the community. Simon is an exceptional tutor - really supportive and knowledgeable. The quality of service and learning you get for that price is an absolute bargain. Can't wait to do the next level!
