Its A Scam
We used Outschool for most of the past three years. The effectiveness of the teachers have always varied, with most not so great, but there are some real bright spots. The system always allowed my son to try a class for a week and then make a decision--we paid only for one week, a fee that was listed. But now the website has gone to a membership model that is less than transparent and if you decide to leave as a member, you lose the monthly payment you have made. I was paying about $400 per month for two classes that met about an hour per week (each) on Zoom. There would be no grades for the courses either. But think about it--if a student took 5-6 classes per week, it would only be 6 hours of classes, and would cost 10-12 thousand dollars per year for those 6 hours per week of classes. What used to cost 20-30 dollars per week, now costs approximately 50 dollars. But they are able to hide it through a model. What an amazing scam.
