Review of Royal Mail

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

We can only hope they go bust!

Royal mail need a competitor on their general mail services because in the Melton Mowbray area it’s sloooow. We sometimes only get mail every two weeks and most letters were posted weeks ago, we even had one bank letter that was posted three months age.

They’ve also made the complaints process impossible on the website.

Would have given 0 stars if that was possible.

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE

I jointed EE many years ago because they had by far the best network. Unfortunately BT got involved and since then the network barely works, even in the centre of London. Very very frustrating. I suspect BT sold some infrastructure.

I’m in the process of testing O2 with a pay as you go sim. If it’s better I’ll be moving. Actually that’s had even worse reviews so I’ll try them all.

My friend lives in France and says there is no issues over there, networks work well and for less. Ripoff Britain again, why do we tolerate it.

Review of Jaeger Lecoultre

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

What a shame that this once iconic brand has lost its way. DO NOT BUY ONE!

If there was a 0-star option, I would have given 0. If you are thinking of buying a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, read this first.

I have had six Jaeger-LeCoultre watches over the years, two vintage and four newer watches. I had no problems with the vintage watches, but something has changed in their management.

After learning about their history and their prestige within the watch community, I purchased two vintage JLC watches and had no problems with either. It actually began when I purchased a new Polaris and immediately noticed the quality was not as good as I expected, the bracelet was made in France and not by JLC, and the case felt cheap. This made me wonder how much more of the watch was made by another manufacturer. I soon sold that watch. I also had a gold Geographic that was sold because the movement failed. Then I moved on to a Duomètre, that also failed and was repaired under warranty.

After being so disappointed with JLC, I finally decided to give them another chance and purchased the classic Reverso. The watch was fine until the crown became so stiff I couldn’t wind the watch. I sent the watch for repair, and after many weeks, it came back working well. After only a few months, the watch stopped and would run at all. The watch was then sent to JLC for a full service at a cost of £800 in an attempt to get the watch working as it should and looking like new. After three months of waiting for its return, it finally arrived. The watch was working as it should, but I noticed the face had been damaged during the service. As you can imagine, I was not happy and made a formal complaint. After many emails back and forth, they decided I should send the watch back so they could investigate what went wrong. They eventually admitted responsibility and offered to repair the damage and refund my £800. Far enough, I thought….but after another four weeks, the watch was returned only to find the back of the case was scratched during the repair. Unbelievable!

As you can imagine, this has been a stressful experience, and this is why I decided to share my experience so that other people don’t have to go through the same. I’ve had many watches serviced, including Rolex, Zenith, and Omega, and have never experienced the incompetence that JLC showed. They don’t seem to care either because they haven’t even acknowledged the reviews placed on this platform.

What a shame that this once iconic brand has now been spoiled by cutting corners with its servicing and watch manufacturing by outsourcing rather than keeping everything in-house. The boxes are now cheap and nasty too. No service boxes either, just a cheap cardboard box.

I am now selling all my JLC watches and will never buy another.

AVOID MEADFLEET

This company is absolutely awful and arrogant. They’ve received numerous complaints from the same development, yet they persist in claiming everything is neat and tidy. Even the MD insists on this, but he obviously hasn’t visited the development in person because it’s far from neat and tidy. Weeds are everywhere, and the so-called ‘Meadow Land’ is now at least 60%. He doesn’t even have the courage to put his email on the letter. Do we really have to remind him that ‘neat and tidy’ is in their contract.

Apparently, there’s also some fly tipping. I walk my dog around the development, and the only fly tipping I can find is by Meadfleet’s contractors. They’ve dumped all the grass cuttings around the edge of the park, claiming it’s good for the insects. What a joke! They work harder at doing nothing than actually doing the job we pay them for.

They claim it’s all done to the approved plan, but who approved this plan it certainly wasn’t the residents because this plan was never shown to them at any point during their conveyance and completion. So, that would mean an incomplete contract, which is invalid.

Any decent company would try to make their customers happy, but they just fight with them.

Hi LT

Thank you so much for your review and we are sorry that you are unhappy.

The letter that was issued to residents on the development was to give clarity regarding the areas that fall within our remit and how they are to be maintained. If you have any concerns with the letter, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care Team, or your Regional Manager.

The fly tipping was fully documented by your Regional Manager, and was not in relation to any green waste, but was actually large items that had to be removed. However, as we have confirmed to all residents, this time we will remove that charge from your invoice as a gesture of goodwill

The "approved plan", is not approved by residents or Meadfleet, it is the Planning Department at the Local Authority that will approve this at the development stage, with the developers, and dictates how the site is laid out, what is planted and how it should be maintained.

Please be assured that Meadfleet's aim is to work with the residents and listen to their concerns and to address them within the planning conditions, so that we can work towards residents satisfaction.

If you do wish to contact our Customer Care Team, they will be happy to assist you.

Take Care
The Meadfleet Team

Review of Barker and Stonehouse

Don’t believe what you read. It’s all fake.

How on earth this company has five stars makes me very suspicious. Especially as they clearly monitor the reviews. I ordered dozens of items from them last March and nearly all were damaged. 10 months on we decided to give them another chance (maybe it was a supplier issue). But no! That item is also damaged. What was I thinking ordering another item? What a fool. If you would like your furniture damaged or poorly made, go ahead and order. If not, don’t.

Not a recommended retail experience.

My experience with Barker and Stonehouse was the worst retail experience I’ve ever had in my life. We ordered two lounge chairs a three seater sofa, two beds, one mattress, two side tables and a coffee table. Only two item wasn’t damaged! As you can imagine it all went back. But we had to wait 9 weeks until they replaced them. One item took 12 weeks. One bed was a single bed in a double bed box, totally wrong. One chair was slashed on the arm and the other has staples hanging out the back. The sofa had been dragged along the floor and was ripped on the corner. And finally the tables were all rusty. Customer Services were also difficult to deal with if of course you can get through.

Products just fall apart very quickly. Very poor!

Unfortunately after many years of use, I feel the need to share my recent experience with Spontex lack of quality, with the public. Like I said, I’ve been using Spontex Washup products (both Sponges and Scourer) for many years because they were the best and lasted longer than any competitors. However, I’ve noticed over the past few months the product quality isn’t what it used to be. Despite the packaging claiming in big bold letters, “STRONG & LONG LASTING” they are far from this. I’ve been replacing the sponge and scourer every few days because they just fall apart after only washing up with them twice a day. I’ll try to include photographs of the current sponge and scourer that I’ve been using for only four days. I’m now looking at supermarket ones because, surely they can’t be any worse. The only conclusion I can come to is the company, in order to make money with rising company costs, has resorted to using cheaper parts and glues. Really disappointed. Real shame that yet another quality company has lost sight of its reputation. Not too sure how they get an overall star rating of 3 and a half. Can I really be unlucky enough to be only one who buys all the faulty ones?

Not Recommended

This watch retailer isn’t what it appears. It is trying to be a reputable watch dealer but in reality it’s a mickey mouse outfit that is very unprofessional. My experience was they are very slow to deal with problems (especially returns) and hang on to refunds as long as possible. I certainly wouldn’t recommend them to anyone, especially serious collectors.

Worst Courier on the Planet!

This is without a doubt the worst courier service I’ve ever come across.

Every delivery that I’ve had (or not) hasn’t arrived. They just leave it with a local shop. At first I thought it was because they couldn’t find my house but this has happened five times now. Also, the shop keeper tells me that they get around ten a day from UPS. This is clearly the driver not bothering to deliver. Much quicker than doing him job I guess.

THIS IS NOT A UK BASED COMPANY!

THIS IS NOT A UK BASED COMPANY!
I ordered a hat from this company thinking it was a UK based company to avoid any delays from overseas. Despite it’s URL Alplinetrek.co.uk it’s in Germany and had to wait two weeks for delivery at a cost of 3.99. I ordered two other hats from another website the same day with FREE delivery and they arrived three days later. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind paying for delivery as long as it arrives in an acceptable time frame, but two weeks!

Hello and thank you for your review!

We're sorry to hear that your order was delayed. Our standard delivery time to the UK is 5-7 working days, as stated on our website.

It can take longer to ship orders containing special items such as tents or walking poles because these products are stored separately and manually packed, and in some rare case delays are caused by factors beyond our control.

We apologise for the delay and thank you for your understanding in this unfortunate matter.

Best regards,

Very very bad communication

My order was out of stock so they told me it would be back in stock and dispatched on the 11th Sep. That date came and went with no communications from Barker and Stonehouse at all. I left it for two weeks because of the Covid issues but still nothing. So, I called them, still not in stock and expected end September. That also came and went. Then it was expected 2nd Oct. that also came and went with no communications from them. I called again and was told that DPD had collected on 5th and would be delivered any day. Still nothing, I called again then I’m told it was collected 8th. Still nothing, so I called again and was told the 9th. It’s very clear to me that they were wasting my time and trying to by some time. I’m not the kind of person to complain but I’m also not a person who lives to be lied to.

I must add that they did offer me £50 not to cancel the order but that doesn’t give them the right to lie constantly.

All they needed to do was be honest and tell me the shipment was delayed. But more importantly...communicate with me. During the whole process they didn’t once contact me with a update.
