Tbb fandom stop writing Echo as the trope character who loses all of their confidence once they become disabled challenge... please I beg

What makes Echo interesting to me, as a disabled person myself, is that he never, regardless of all the things that he loses as a result of all the things done to him, loses his sense of self worth or his signature confidence that made him so attractive as a character to begin with.

And I’m not saying a regression in confidence isn’t a valid storyline for disabled people to go through, both in real life and in fiction. But the trope, in itself, is overused and tired, and you can’t shoehorn a character like “I am worth more than 2000” ARC trooper Echo into self-conscious sad boy who is too insecure and shy now that he’s adapting to his own new reality. That is not, and will never, be like him.

Yes. i understand how people wanna be attentive to a realllllly hard thing that happened but i will bet those 2000 credits that being with the batch stamped out any insecurities he did have. i mean they are shameless. that’s why echo fit in so well. hes been around confident people his whole life, from his batch to the 501st and that attitude doesn’t just go away.

besides aren’t mechanical limbs relatively common surgical appendages in star wars? i feel like a little bit of a dick for over analyzing cause i’m not trying to ruin anyone’s fic i swear!!!!

but replacing anakin’s and luke’s didn’t seem to be a problem. same with wolffe and wrecker’s eyes i mean??? it seems pretty normal. also i think the fact that echo chose to get a scomp arm that’s proved to be suuuuuper useful during missions when he could have gotten an actual hand like crosshair means he took FULL advantage of his disability and is comfortable with himself. maybe. i mean everyone has insecurities but echo isn’t the type to be weighed down by anything.
