This is a review for the new Trailfly. Perfect in every way except the heel cup is very shallow. This causes slipping and despite race lacing, trying a different insole, I just can’t get my heel locked in. If it was another 1cm higher, they’d be perfect. Not as isolated issue in this, the max and other styles when I questioned the trail running community. Please Inov8, tweak the trainers and make them perfect again. For now I’m back to my Altra Lone peak until something better comes along.

I’ve been wearing Inov-8 shoes for years.

For around eight years, I practically lived in the 235v3 in Khaki. I loved these shoes – as casual wear, for lifting, and for their understated, subdued style. They were durable, comfortable, and lasted far longer than expected. I stocked up on them when I could, even buying unused pairs on eBay and grabbing barely-worn ones whenever they popped up. Sadly, Inov-8 discontinued this colorway, and they haven’t released anything nearly as nice since. I still have saved searches on eBay, hoping to find a new pair someday.

To make the pairs I have left last longer, I started running in the Roadfly, all black. Again, these shoes were spot on – subtle, stylish, and great for running. They even looked good enough to wear casually with shorts. From the first run, they were perfect, and I didn’t have a single complaint. Unfortunately, they’ve now discontinued these too! I was lucky enough to get the last pair in my size. They haven’t even been on the market for a year, and while other colors are still available, the black version is sold out everywhere. Clearly, black is a popular choice – why get rid of something that works?

I’m genuinely annoyed and disappointed. Had I known they were going to discontinue them so soon, I would have bought more. I honestly expected these to be available for a few years. Now, I’m left dreading whatever garish colors they decide to release instead.

To make matters worse, dealing with their support team has been a nightmare – they come across as nauseatingly patronising.

On top of that, I was taken advantage of during the pandemic when I covered the duties of a CSAD Fablab worker. He was getting paid by both the University and the owner of Inov-8 to do private work, while I did the actual work he was supposed to cover. The University made a small amount from machine time, but he got paid twice – once by the University and once for private work – while I didn’t see a single penny, not even for the work I covered. To top it off, the money he brought into the University paled in comparison to what they paid him for the work I did on his behalf. It felt like a rotten little scheme run by a bunch of men with small man syndrome.

I got nothing – not even for the work I legitimately covered.

They took £5 off the price, plus £2.99 postage.
£8 off the original price of £39 including shipping.

Deters me from buying from them again.

My Rocfly boots are amazingly comfortable and members of my walking group have noticed that I walk faster and longer than before.
They are very light and I am impressed with the grip on all surfaces.
Their customer service has been excellent.

Very disappointed with this boot. As soon as I did some significant walking they fell apart. The rubber seams on the side of the boot started to detach. And a nasty rivet developed at the side of toe box which caused awful blisters on my small toe. Now unwearable and not even a year old

Fantastic grip on both boggy and rocky terrain. Very light and able boot, I ran 15 miles over the moors in them.
However, they'll only take so much boggy stuff before they let in. Also, after 4 months and prob 6 good walks the sole has started to come away in 2 places. I'll be returning them and looking for a refund.

I ordered a few pairs of different shoes from the website. When I was deciding what to return I noticed that one model was £16 cheaper than what I paid for it. I contacted the customer services over the chat and their reply was "Yes of course that is no problem, if you do want to keep one of the pairs, please just let us know what size you are keeping and we can organise the discount refund of £16 for you." I emailed the company requesting this refund 3 times and I never heard anything back. So, if you are considering buying anything, would you really give your money to the company who does not follow up on its promises?

This brand is a SCAM for Scandinavian residents. Will direct you through Chinese websites then send nothing or wrong item, and will not give back a refund.

If you want this brand do more research to find the real brand! Might be easier to find another cross-training or outdoor running shoe if you are outside UK or US.

These boots were amazing to start off with, but then, after a month, they stopped being waterproof. Then, the ankle support collapsed because the cushioning is very flimsy causing rubbing and blisters! I emailed them but they refuse to refund me since the boots were no longer under warranty, they see it as normal wear and tear. Who buys walking boots for £200 and only expect them to last a year? My previous pair (scarpa) lasted me for about 10 years! When I queried their decision, they didn’t even bother to get back to me!

I ordered a pair of boots in the sale. It seems that they were despatched quickly but DPD failed on the delivery. I emailed INOV8 twice but have received no reply. Wondering what to do now. Not recommended.

I love Inov8 shoes and have owned and run in many pairs over the years, however, I cannot help but be disappointed at the flimsy build quality of the Parkclaw G280.
If I set aside the irritating variability in sizing both within models and across the range, one of the features of Inov8 over the years has been just how robust and therefore fit for purpose its trail shoes are; until now...
I have had the current pair for 6 months but in that time, due to injury, I have managed precisely 1 trail run and a short daily dog walk i.e. nothing so intense that I would expect the fabric to start wearing away.
I doubt that this pair will last another 2-3 months of dog walks let alone trail runs or approaches to climbs / hikes.
Inov8 are not cheap but used to be worth it. I cannot contemplate replacing them with another from the same stable so will have to look at other brands. Shame.

Products are made in China so know where your money is going before you decide to purchase. They have also teamed up with Thrudark who also make their products abroad despite using the Union Jack on their clothes.

I bought these in October 2022 for winter training and racing, from the off the have been comfortable to a point , drain well but would have loved the boomerang insole instead. On the trails they are fine on gravel, but don’t provide security on wet rocks, wood, stone surfaces and on muddy trails you have to pick a more secure line as despite the 8mm lugs, are not like a tractor and you will slip and slide. In hindsight I’d have chosen a different brand.

My favourite brand for running clothing and shoes, but recently received a shoe with a quality issue and sent feedback to the company. I was offered a replacement (although I did not ask for this), but due to the shoe in question being sold out, there was a bit of a wait. The subsequent communication and care I received from Customer Adviser Caitlin was over and above. Overall an excellent experience.

I've had many inov8s with no issues over the years.
So disappointed in these boots though.
The 1st pairs' lace loops failed and were replace with no hastle by Sportsshoes.com, this is not a review on them, Sportsshoes have been very good.
The 2nd pair are being returned as the right boot lets in water walking across a field of wet grass.
Refund this time.

A trusted brand of mine since 2009. Never a podium finisher, but all ultras completed with Invo8 trail shoes. I still have my very first 315s and a fleet of 270s, one pair with 1000 Strava miles on them. Inov8 delivers excellent fitment, durability and quality along with prompt customer service. This is a no nonsense brand committed to helping you achieve your goals. Follow their guidelines and reach out to them should you have questions. Try a pair and don’t be surprised if Invo8 is the brand you’ll keep coming back to. I’d like to think inov8 is the shoe that takes you into the jungle and gets you back out.

Where to begin? They say looks (and price - these cost £200, making them the most expensive hiking boot in the shop) can deceive and deceive these boots did! I wish I could give a better review but I can’t. Anyway, let’s start with the positives:

1. They were very comfortable and didn’t cause blisters, even throughout a 40 day hike in the Himalayas
2. They dried quickly, esp. for a Gortex boot (but see below for issues around getting wet)
3. They look good (before they fall apart, which began after the first wear!)

The negatives:

1. They began to fall apart after the first wear and after about a week of trekking the lining around the ankle (including where the top bracket for the laces was located) started coming away from the boot
2. By 3 weeks of wear the top lace bracket didn’t function any more which made the following weeks of walking a little dangerous with limited ankle support
3. The material on the front of the boot just above the big and little toes started to rip within 3 wears. By 10 wears the Gortex didn’t work anymore as it had ripped through and the boots often became sodden wet - whenever walking on long wet grass, snow etc.
4. The sole at the heel started coming away after a few weeks of wear. Whilst this didn’t cause any issues whilst hiking it is indicative of the whole boot starting to fall apart
5. The grip was OK but not great, especially on loose gravel

Maybe mine was part of a bad batch but these really didn’t live up to expectations.

I bought an Inov8 Primaloft jacket, I really liked it, the styling was great, it was warm and really comfortable, unfortunately after 15 months the bottom of the zip fell apart, I had worn it probably 20 times just for walking in so it hadn’t been subjected to any overuse and quite honestly looked like new, although it was out of warranty I did expect that Inov8 would at least have an interest in perhaps repairing the jacket, I even offered to pay, unfortunately this was not to be, they really weren’t interested and hid behind reseller contracts, a poor excuse, ultimately they produced the kit, it bears their labels and they should take some responsibility if the kit is substandard, I have had numerous items from Inov8 in the past and this is my first bad experience. I won’t be using their kit again, I would expect more from an outdoor clothing supplier, a bust zip on a jacket could be disastrous on the fells in bad weather, they do also trumpet their green credentials and so I would expect them to produce kit that lasts for more than 15 month.

I have yet to fully test this boot, but initial impressions over around 50 miles are good. The boots are comfortable with great grip on snow, ice, mud and wet rocks. Within this positive context, I would mention a few points:
1. Comfort: although Inov-8 says this is max cushioned, it would qualify as 'just about adequate' for other marques such as Hoka or Adidas. I would have liked to have seen a Boomerang insole to provide additional plushness without compromising stability, especially if the boots are aimed at day-long treks;
2 Fit: I like a wide toe box, but there may be more room that necessary in this boot. I have taken to wearing thick socks in order to make my toes feel a bit more secure. Mind you, I have very ugly, flat feet, so this may not be an issue for most normal people. (The thick socks are actually a blessing, as the boot is not especially insulated, and you certainly know it when you have walked through a cold puddle);
3. Laces: yes, I know- picky or what? But, it strikes me that if you've spent all this time and money on R&D for a product, why would you then outfit it with laces that are patently not the right size or shape for the shoe? I have a size 10.5, and the laces are at least 10cm too long. It means that even when I double- or triple knot them, I always end up with the wet bunny ears at the end of a walk. If you don't care about oversized laces Inov-8, then at least provide a 'garage' or elastic chord around the tongue that allows us to store the excess. Also, the laces seem too thick for the boot, which means the lower rivets clamp the laces in place, making adjustment hard past the mid-foot. That being said, fit around the ankles is excellent; and
4. Fit and finish: for a premium boot, I was surprised that the gussets are so poorly finished, with the waterproof lining sticking out. I have not come across this before, even on far cheaper boots. I suspect it does not affect anything, but it just looks strange when tying the laces.

And that's it: really good shoe but a bit more care and attention could make it excellent in my unrequested opinion.
