We came from the north of Gaza to the south, searching for shelter to protect us from the Zionist bombing. We lived in tents and bombed houses. We were bombed several times and we were all injured by shrapnel from the war. Every time we miraculously survived the war. But we always had hope that the war would end and we would return to the building and meet together after you separated me and my uncles. On the morning of January 19, the truce was supposed to begin and the war was supposed to end at 8:30, when we received the news that our building had been bombed and completely destroyed.
I have now become a refugee, displaced and homeless 💔 How difficult it is to see all the people celebrating the end of the war while a new war has begun for me with the destruction of my only home and refuge. The landlord of the apartment that Eslam’s family have been renting has threatened them. He saw her talking about the looming eviction on her twitter, and he has realised that she has people who are supporting her and donating to keep her family safe. Someone miraculously paid the $2k rent for December, so now the landlord is trying to extort this family for $6000 in rent debt. He initially gave them a week, after seeing the outrage on twitter, he demanded that she stop talking about him and the rent money, in exchange for giving them until the end of January to pay the $6k. Eslam and her family are terrified of this man. Her family all told her to remove her posts and not to mention this on twitter. She gave me permission to post this on here. I am incredibly worried about them, as the landlord clearly intends to extort them for as much as possible. They have no tent and no material to build one. The apartment was flooded yesterday and now Eslam’s father is getting sicker. He has been disabled and bedridden from untreated diabetes. He is now vomiting and very dizzy. I received a referral for treatment abroad since I was injured, but the occupation refused to let me leave the Gaza Strip. Since that time, I have been suffering from severe pain due to the lack of medications I have because their price is very expensive. They are painkillers. I used to collect money to feed my family and I still do so. I am in dire need of money to buy painkillers. Please help me, you who claim to be humane.
Anas hasn’t received any donations in over 24 hours 💔
On October 10th 2023, Anas’ home was destroyed, forcing him and his family to seek shelter at a school. 2 weeks later, his eldest brother was kidnapped while trying to buy flour, and imprisoned. On November 16th 2023 a massacre was carried out at the school, killing 170 people, including his second eldest brother Abdulrahman and eight other relatives. Anas was gravely injured, losing his left arm and nearly dying from his injuries and blood loss. For three days, Anas lay bleeding amid chaos, as survivors frantically searched for loved ones. His parents couldn’t find them, and assuming both sons were martyred, left the site. As soon as they could, his parents returned, discovering Abdulrahman’s body and Anas, barely alive. They desperately sought medical help, facing refusals at two hospitals before a clinic arranged his transfer to the Indonesian hospital. There, he underwent an amputation without pain relief or anaesthesia due to the shortages. After one night, the hospital was surrounded by the IOF forcing everyone to flee. Anas’ father gathered supplies, and they fled to a shelter. For a week, Anas’ father and younger brother searched desperately for any medication or further treatment for Anas, who could not walk as he had sustained injuries to his whole body. After 7 days of not finding aid, Anas’ 13 year old brother pushed him 15 km south using a cart. In the south, doctors performed another surgery to treat his wounds and stabilize him. They were amazed that he was still alive, he had lost so much blood, he received a transfusion. Anas stayed there for 15 days, recovering. His mother and little brothers joined him and they moved to Rafah, hoping to flee to Egypt. Instead, they spent five months there before being displaced again to their current location in Al-Mawasi, Khan Yunis. His father is still in North Gaza, and having lost his two older brothers, Anas who was only 19 at the time of his amputation, was suddenly the breadwinner for his mother and younger brothers. This campaign is their lifeline, their survival funds. They haven’t been able to save any evacuation fees, but Anas clearly needs to get out of Gaza as soon as the crossing opens.

29/12/24 update: Eslam has to pay a total of $6000 to the landlord within 5 days or her family will be evicted. They have no tent, and nowhere else to go. Her father is disabled and bed-bound, he cannot walk or move due to complications from his untreated diabetes.
the landlord gave me less than a month, and I have to pay the remaining 6 thousand over 4 months of accumulated rent since my father got sick and couldn’t get up to work. I’m really tired and I don’t know what to do.He told me to give him the money in installments, but I had to give him the 6,000 in less than a month 😭
The problem is that even if the war ends, I have to pay the debt 💔
This is the “house” the Said’s are forced to pay $2000/month, and $6000 in back payments. They literally cannot leave, Eslam’s father cannot walk due to a problem with his ear, caused by untreated diabetes, which has tremendously affected his balance. Today I learned that Gilmore Girls is one of Eslam’s favourite shows. Another thing we have in common! She’s a teenager in Gaza, I’m a 20-something in New Zealand; but despite the physical distance, and all the privileges I have grown up with that she has never known, she is like a sister to me. I’m reminded of my decade and a half of friendship with my beloved Alyssa @tilyoutryit who was (and still is, I’m just no longer a teenager 👵🏼) like a big sister to me, during my angsty teenage years. Alyssa and I finally met IRL after several years of talking online. I am so hopeful that I can meet Eslam one day, but it’s obviously a far more complicated situation. Even if the crossing were to open tomorrow, Eslam and her family would be unable to escape. Any money they have raised so far has been spent on rent, food, medicine and blankets, aka SURVIVAL.
Eslam’s family is safe from eviction for another month 🙏🏻 this is basically a miracle; but here I am asking for another one! Because they are forced to pay $2000/month in rent, this makes it impossible to save any money for evacuation fees. the cut-off age for ‘adult’ fees is 16. this means they need to raise almost $50,000 to pay the necessary evacuation fees. I have been talking to Eslam about making a tumblr, she loves photography and making videos, I think she would love this community, unfortunately her phone has been broken for weeks, which leaves her having to borrow her sisters phone, to share her campaign on Twitter/X, and talk to me and her other friends and family. Today she is going to try downloading the app on her sisters phone, and sharing her story with you beautiful people who support Palestine 🇵🇸
