See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

You know, rewatching the original Yu-Gi-Oh dub series, something that occurs to me? The reason Rex Raptor and Weevil lost so much might be because….they weren’t actually as good duelist as they though they were.

Like, i know that sounds obvious, but I mean more in the sense that neither one was really equal in level to most of the other duelists in the tournaments they entered. Rex and Weevil always brag about being champs….but they brag specifically about being REGIONAL champions. And that’s….not actually that impressive a ranking. That’s basically them bragging that they’re the best duelists in their towns, which would both explain why they seem to live in the same place and why everyone around them treated them so impressively in the past despite their ranking not actually being that high: They were the best duelists in their area, do everyone who lived their treated them like they were superstars.

But that’s the thing. They were the best duelists IN THEIR AREA, but by comparison, their competitors were all a lot higher ranked then them. Kaiba was the world champion, Bandit Keith the intercontinental champion, Mai was at least SOME kind of pro based on her history and even Mako is implied to duel internationally. Compared to them, Rex and Weevil don’t really measure up. And that might explain why neither ever place high in the tournaments we see them in. Neither made it very far in either Duelis Kingdom or Battle City or were even CONSIDERED for the Kaibacorp grand Prix because neither were actually on the same level as the world class competition they kept being put up against.

One of the main reasons I say the Cardfight anime is better than Yu-Gi-Oh’s anime is because in the first episode of almost each season they do setting most of the Yu-Gi-Oh anime’s never bothered to do: actually explain how to play the game.

In the first episode of almost every season, they have someone else explain the rules of the card game to a new player. True some advanced concepts like perfect guards, legion, and limit breaks are expanded on but you get the gist of how the game is played, so you can follow along easier.

Throughout the first three seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh, we never get a real explanation of how to actually play the game. The first anime gives just kind of glosses over the rules and the animes after don’t explain it either until about Zexal. Not to mention the anime seems to make up rules or abilities so some cards might work different in the game. But vanguard doesn’t do that. Every card works in the game the same way they do in the show. And rules of the game in the show and in the actual card game are exactly the same. So, if you wanted to play the game after watching the show, you’d already know how to do that. You can’t really say the same with Yu-Gi-Oh. If you tried playing it after watching the show, would you really be able to grasp all the rules? I don’t think so.
